Promising Initially, but Disappointed

Pros

- The people at Bridgepoint were friendly enough and would lend a helping hand if asked - Challenging Projects and encouragement to grow in knowledge - Utilization was not the only thing driving bonuses, diversified areas of employee performance

Cons

- If you didn't live in Austin, TX - there wasn't much of a company culture. It felt quite exclusive, siloed, and there was a huge gap of communication between management and consultants - Was laid off without any sense of forewarning, could not finish the workday, no severance package, and all contact cut off except for a single truly kind individual with whom I did not work directly with - Manager/Mentor structure, promotion structure, and ability to contribute to workplace culture non-existent though they acted as though you could make an impact if you cared to - Pigeonholed into working on only what you know - No diversity of people or thought

Pros

Relaxed environment, great people, family-oriented, cool clients

Cons

No real structured career path, although some may view this as a pro as Bridgepoint is always open to providing opportunities to those who ask.

Pros

If considered a variable rate consultant, the client and hours you work is defined by you; which is a real plus for work/ life balance. Even though you are a consultant, they do their best to make you feel part of a team with a huge network of support for those tough scenarios to resolve. Annual holiday party, client/ consultant dinner, fun consultant events to bring everyone together, benefits, and quarterly bonuses for those over achievers.

Cons

Nine times out of ten, you are on an assignment twice as long as expected. So when you commit, you commit. If considered a salaried consultant, there's not a lot of opportunity to work with multiple clients as pitched during the initial interview (hourly consultant is the way to go for flexibility). As with all companies faced with growth, they are sometimes making too much of a change giving the company more of a temporary placement feel rather than a consulting firm.
