Pros

-Opportunities to work on many aspects of the business -Working cross functionally across the company

Cons

I don't know where to begin with BrightEdge and it's long list of cons, but I'll try -Micromanagement that comes from the top down -Cheap company -Company has no idea what it's doing -Expected to put long hours in with no appreciation -Lack of transparency (gossip or a game of telephone seems to be the best way to get any information) -Nonexistent work from home policy -15 days PTO policy - Massive egos -CEO is way too involved in little details -Major lack of diversity If you work at BrightEdge, expect to be unhappy sooner or later. You might start off excited, but that excitement wears off quickly.

Overworked and Heavily Compensated

Pros

They pay well. REALLY well. You will learn the ins and outs of working with companies of all sizes, and what you need to tell people for them to get bought in. Great experience to "jumpstart" your career, just don't spend more than a few years here. PS - If you're sent here by a competitor and are a potential customer, the BrightEdge people DO generally know what they're talking about for the most part. Better tech and competitive pricing. While not the best place to work (see below), if you're a reasonably sophisticated company BrightEdge is the better fit 99 times out of 100. Good technology overall, especially in the Enterprise space.

Cons

Overworked, micromanaged, and a culture of revenue growth at any cost. I cannot emphasize micromanaged enough. If you do not like being micromanaged, do not work here. You will be told what to do, and more importantly HOW to do it. Organizing a call with a customer you've worked with for 6 months already? Make sure you document the previous call, how you scheduled the next call, what the next call will be about, and prepare materials ahead of time to be reviewed by leadership to make sure you did it right. This happens whether you have been there 2 months or 2 years. Didn't phrase something exactly how the CEO would have in an email? Get ready for your manager to review that email with an executive and "coach" you on the specific language 6 other people think you should have used. I am not exaggerating.

Pros

-Free food, high compensation for new grads, friendly like-minded people in Sales, you can learn a lot about digital marketing and start ups if that's something you're interested in. BrightEdge is continuing to follow the path of profitability and sustainability without additional funding. They have a good grasp on their competition and fight for every deal. The sales culture can teach you incredible work ethic, communication skills, and how to be assertive. They have some impressive existing customers that do like the technology.

Cons

Majority of EBRs never hit monthly quota, Uneven distribution of accounts between reps & territories, no analysis of Ideal Customer Profile in CRM (junk accounts that have no need or budget for SEO). Stock options/plan is worthless except for executives. No 401k Match. Very high turnover, most people leave or are managed out in less than a year.

Your review is noted and we appreciate the feedback. The nature of our EBR (Demand Generation) teams is the same at similar organizations in the Sales space. We love to hire new college grads for these roles, but that means the turnover is often high because the role is not for everyone. We have developed an in-house playbook that is unique to BrightEdge. You will be very successful if you follow it. Those who do not historically do not meet monthly quota and are usually unsuccessful here. As we mature and grow and become more successful as a company our benefits will increase. 401k matching is not common for a Pre-IPO start-up. We are still a late stage start-up and reward successful employees with meaningful stock options the more you are successful here. Once again, thanks for the feedback, we take it very seriously. Good luck with you new ventures.
