The role this former employee held is not for everyone. We hire straight out of college for nearly 100 % of our EBR's and are very transparent on the work load and expectations for each EBR. It is up to each person to apply what is taught and have the desire to learn and put in the time and work to succeed. We can teach skills but can't teach drive, motivation nor work ethic. We do have a very extensive training program for our EBR's and hire each EBR with the expectation that will succeed and ultimately earn a promotion to Account Executive. We even developed a promotion track program with monthly and weekly coaching sessions to prepare and develop EBR into sales reps. Not many companies our size put the time and investment in training as much as we do here at BrightEdge. It is disappointing that this person was not successful here, but when you hire straight out of college with little to no sales experience, you will have attrition, as not everyone will succeed. We can only continue to support those successful employees and learn from those who did not make it through the program.

Pros

Middle of the road benefits, hybrid return to office plan, flexible work from home. (As of when I left.) My team was supportive and each member was wonderful. But... (see Cons)

Cons

Management at the team level was severely unhelpful and unsupportive, despite micromanaging every minuscule task and meeting, and never allowed team members to handle any situation start-to-finish on their own. VP-level management was unresponsive and inaccessible, C-Suite is out of touch with true culture in the company. Employee turnover rates are sky-high. Absolutely ZERO work-life balance - during the work week, I'd get emails in the middle of the night (I'm talking 2am), and I'd still get too many emails over the weekend (and forget about PTO days). I received far too much company "swag" instead of bonuses or a raise. I could go on, but I'll leave it with this - BE is a truly toxic work environment, and I am much better off not working here anymore.

Pros

Some of the people I met and worked with were fantastic, but miserable in everything that had to do with BrightEdge

Cons

Terrible leadership from the top down. Micromanagement of every process, yet no process is ever improved. If you enjoy selling a product that has not been updated in years, yet is still priced the highest in the market, this is the place for you. If you enjoy being subjected to countless meetings... about meetings...for meetings that are coming up...this is the place for you. If you enjoy building PPT slides over and over again, only to be told they aren't good enough, this is the place for you. If you want to work for executive leadership that is not capable of speaking with a client without several hours of prep work and a script of exactly what to say...this is the place for you. If you like making up prices and embellishing ROI and results, this is the place for you. If you like badgering clients until they submit or fire you...this is the place for you. If you are a client or potential client reading this...DO NOT do business with BrightEdge. they will tell you anything and make up any price to win business, and then forget about you immediately after you sign the agreement.
