Pros

Good pay, fast hiring and onboarding. Some truly wonderful colleagues. Excellent marketing so the company always looks good.

Cons

When drafting a review of a company of this magnitude and financial clout, I recognize the need to be cautious. Dishonest - multiple times management and supervisors directly stated staff were “safe” until 2024. Received over $100 million in 2022 alone (many articles on google support this) and proceeded with reassurances only to layoff 20% one week ago. Therapists were laid off and systems locked down same day leading to zero closure sessions with the children they serve. If this had happened in a private practice it could jeopardize a license. Therapist and others that work with children know that consistency and showing up when promised is fundamental to good care and resiliency. Not doing so is a problem and although we all know that changes happen in life that can be teachable moments, there is little excuse for abruptly stopping closure from happening whenever it is possible in a therapeutic professional relationship. The work life balance here is good in so far as they hired too many people without enough demand so there was a lot of free time. This was questionable practice and certainly kept everyone nervous. A few months ago, some therapist were given the “option” to switch to 1-9pm schedule OR resign with a severance. This does not reflect a healthy work-life balance as many people have children or other demands or just did not sign up for a night job and were given no option to stay at the originally agreed to schedules. Services weren’t available to staff. Staff could not enroll their children in services. Benefits were fine except the health insurance is based out of CA so if you don’t live there, nearly everyone is out of network. The cost of insurance for the clinical staff is exuberant. Several of the managers, including senior managers, do not have the work experience to be a manager at that level. But they do perform as managers, not leaders so perhaps they do. Leaders are different than managers. The company affords next to no upward mobility although they will claim otherwise. It is always obvious who they want in a role. There is a lot of love and very careful wording in their messaging and marketing but they come up short in the end.

Pros

Great company culture Great benefits

Cons

Not transparent with staff regarding finances. Last minute layoff of 20% of staff which is destroying some people's lives financially. Care more about the bottom line than the care of the actual members. Unbalanced caseloads (some therapists have large caseloads where others have less than 5 clients for months/years, yet they get the same pay).

Pros

Having only joined a few months ago, I can take no credit for the culture that was already in place. It was one of the main reasons I joined. I am thrilled to be on this journey with this amazing team and look forward to weaving this culture into all of our recruiting efforts.

Cons

Not a con, just a fact. At scale, it can be hard for companies to retain the sense of culture you feel at an early stage start-up. That said, I have no doubt this leadership will continue to put the team and the mission first.
