Pros

The people. To be clear, individual contributors, nobody in management or leadership.

Cons

I'm relieved there's no character limit, so let's dive in. Unfortunately, the core values of this company seem questionable at best. 'Embrace the Pace' appears to signify a lack of direction, urging employees to simply work without questioning. 'Focus on the Customer' seems more like a show, as decisions are driven by revenue, not customer benefit. Hiring outside VPs in a panic to try and fix mistakes led to a mismatch with the construction industry and their past experience. Their past success relied on sheer numbers, selling software to as many customers as possible despite having one of the worst churn rates in SaaS. Revenue and Sales clearly don't communicate with each other. With cheaper, more user-friendly competitors out there now, the company should prioritize retaining its current user base instead of focusing on how to make more money. The CEO's emphasis on 'trust, transparency, and communication' turned out to be mere buzzwords. A 16% layoff was announced via email on a Monday night, raising doubts about these values. Rumors of another layoff prompted my departure last year. To current employees: consider seeking new opportunities and jump ship.

Don't trust anything they say!

Pros

Some of the teams have a good culture at the individual level. The insurance benefits are actually decent. Work-life balance can be good in some teams, non-existent in others.

Cons

Do not believe anything they tell you. They tell you they have a great culture, in reality it is a cult that does not permit outsiders. They tell you they have company values like "be a good human". In reality, the "be a good human" is optional if you've been at Buildertrend longer than 5 years. They gutted 150+ people overnight on a Monday right before the holidays, and despite what they will say in response to this, it wasn't carefully considered. If you look at those laid off, they were either former CoConstruct, hired in 2022, or had a salary above a certain cutoff. They didn't "carefully consider" anything other than laying off hard workers that just happened to be outside of Nebraska that made reasonable wages. They will claim they "focus on the customer". However, they do not listen to customers, they just assign work that random product people think is what customers want. In reality, customers continue to abandon the product because nothing they request is added. They'll tell you to "embrace the pace". The reality is you'll be expected to be a ticket taker/closer. It doesn't matter if you create numerous bugs, just so long as you look like you're completing work. The culture is built around a cult and alcoholism. This isn't an exaggeration, this is pure reality that even long-term employees will tell you. Their town hall meetings are very much the executives clapping themselves on the back with a rousing cult leader speech from the CEO. Afterwards, they'll provide you with all the beer you can drink in the hopes you'll drown your sorrows from being overworked and underappreciated. Every once in a while they'll even provide a pizza party to show their appreciation. Unfortunately, that appreciation doesn't come in the form of pay raises, bonuses, or any other tangible benefits. No doubt some HR person will try and counter everything posted here. Just remember, their job is to protect the company, and that includes lies to save face. If you're thinking of applying here, reach out to the former employees and get their opinion.

Pros

Some of the people are nice.

Cons

Band-aid mentality... they care more about pushing features than actually designing something of quality with care, research, and testing.
