Pros

Really nice people Eager to help Excellent reputation This job is perfect for a college student.

Cons

Expensive product hard to overcome price objections Pay. Pay process is overly complicated for no reason. Was paid only 1000 for my first month of working with working standard 40 hour work week. Could have been paid more working for McDonald’s. Schedule. I was told that I would be working 9-6 four days a week with one late day. After training my shift changed to 10-7 three days a week and 12-9 for 2 days a week. When I brought it to their attention I was told it was because I was new. Unacceptable.

Pros

I have worked here for 2 years and the place has a great location with Great People and a Fast process when time to close, great infrastructure in the office and can work from home sometimes.

Cons

100% Commission, Extreme Long Hours, Deal Goal per month is too high, Almost No PTO and when you take off you have to still hit your goal #, if you take off non pto you will be charged for it, you have to work 2 out of 4 weekends, you cant negotiate the deal pricing for a customer that needs a budget plan so turns out no deal, even if you are great and work your behind off its still not a guarantee you can make good money here

CARCHEX Response

CARCHEX offers an UNCAPPED commission opportunity to our sales staff. Our culture is competitive and rewarding! We provide comprehensive training and a fair ramp up period for our new staff, including a guaranteed minimum for Vehicle Protection Specialists as they build their pipeline. The average Protection Specialist earns $75,000.00/year in year two and a college degree is not required for this position. CARCHEX believes strongly in a work life balance. It’s a cornerstone of our culture. We offer flexible shifts to our staff and opportunities to work from home occasionally. We require the Protection Specialists to work every 3rd Saturday from 10 am-3 pm. We do this because the company provides all leads. There is no cold calling ever and we have strong lead flow on Saturdays. Our Protection Specialists only work leads of potential customers who have contacted us for a Vehicle Protection Plan quote. When a Protection Specialist is scheduled for Saturday, the Specialist schedule is reduced by 1 hour each day before the Saturday schedule, so the Specialist works a 40 hour week that week. We also provide free lunch to all staff on Saturdays. The majority of our sales staff not only meets, but EXCEEDS their monthly goals! As with any sales position, you are rewarded for your efforts. CARCHEX LOVES to recognize our staff with Ravens tickets, Orioles tickets, awards, extra income opportunities and prizes. We offer 10 days of PTO to our 2nd year staff as well as paid holidays. We also offer mid-month breakfast, end of month lunch, free yoga and boot camp classes, 4% 401(k) match and an outstanding location in the Hunt Valley Towne Centre. CARCHEX is one of the fastest growing companies in Baltimore due to our competitive pricing and FANTASTIC employees.

Pros

I started at CarChex in May of 2014, so, I'll be celebrating my one year anniversary next month. I truly do feel like this place has given me a career and not just a job. I've been a sales professional for most of my post college life and I've yet to come across a place that has the type of environment that we do here. I get to work out with a trainer 3 times a week, massages are available if I want them, and so is yoga. My schedule is flexible for the most part and I'm allowed to have a life outside of work, which is huge for me. I work hard here because I reaped the benefits from the start. Money is good. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say that, but, it's the truth. We make a lot of money on the sales floor. I was able to buy a new car 6 months after working here, I have a substantial savings account, and a lifestyle that reflects the hard work I put into it. If you produce, you get paid. That's it. This is sales and it's fun. We laugh, we have a good time, and we grind hard. I believe in what we sell and I love the people I work with and for. As a company we are growing, being in at the ground level is really exciting and advancement as an individual within the company comes regularly. I love what I do here. End of story.

Cons

Not sure if these are cons or just facts that some people may not like. We work hard and spend a lot of time on the phone. This is phone sales...so it's expected. If you don't produce we have sales coaches and team leaders that will work with you and help you to do so. If you still can't produce then it's probably not a good fit anyway. I'm not sure what else to say...things are solid here.
