Pros

High pay (used to be $20/hr), currently it is $19/hr. Very flexible Off days during holidays and inclement weathers

Cons

No benefits Long commute depending on where your client goes to school/lives Lack of structure in the classroom (depends if the teacher is timid or assertive) Irate clients with foul mouths Irate parents Lack of respect from teachers (dependent on the teacher's attitude towards PCA/TSS) No 40 hour work week unless you have more than one client. Unless you have an interest in this field, a typical work day can be very stressful. Most people work this job to pay bills while others have interest in it.

Cons

No respect No raises Lots of travel Limited resources; books, laminator, courses, etc. Case managers negative and non-supportive Overwhelming paperwork that billing and case managers do not agree on and demand edits/changes or you will be payed minimum wage or fired from case NO team collaboration with IU in "team approach' BSC are individuals and not supported by IU/Case managers Case managers demand paperwork but they are not held accountable for their own time lines
