Great Company

Pros

Not micromanaged. Autonomy to do your job - Leaders are there to support. Great people to work with. Flexible schedule.

Cons

The workload is heavy. Especially since the transformation (layoffs) in July 2025. Culture / Morale took a nose dive, but ELT is working to bring that back up.

Pros

“Some” good people - sadly not enough

Cons

In my experience, CHEP—part of Brambles—has been one of the most toxic work environments I’ve ever seen. The culture is suffocating, driven by politics, favoritism, and an astonishing number of underqualified people who somehow end up in positions of influence. The so-called “support” functions—Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, Ethics and Compliance—operate more like window dressing than real governance. Their decisions are often inconsistent, selective, and heavily influenced by who someone is rather than what is right or ethical. Every year, like clockwork, thousands of employees are made redundant right around the Christmas period, a time when people are most vulnerable. The impact on families and livelihoods seems to matter far less than polishing the brand image or protecting the pay-checks of those at the top. From my perspective, CHEP cares far more about optics than integrity, and far more about internal politics than the people who actually keep the company running.

Communication Stinks

Pros

Steady work. Benefits are decent. They provide everything you need for safety. Diverse. Management actually acts like they care about you.

Cons

The communication between supervisors and all employees is confusing. Slacker employees aren’t dealt with other than getting a slap on the wrist. Turn over is medium, not too high but it gets hectic when short staffed and you can’t get everything completed but they still expect you to. Shifts complaining about the other shifts. They schedule inconvenient mandatory overtime. Ridiculous point system. They don’t do excused absences. You get points if you have to leave for an actual emergency. The list goes on.
