Initially, my time at CONMED was positive, with a welcoming team and opportunities that seemed promising. However, this quickly gave way to stagnation, as there were limited avenues for growth or professional development. Communication challenges with certain team members became a persistent issue, often making collaboration frustrating and unproductive. Additionally, the salary was notably low, which did not align with the demands of the role or industry standards.
Worse, leadership failed to address these interpersonal conflicts effectively, enabling troubling behaviors that disrupted team dynamics. It became clear that leadership decisions were often driven by personal self-interest rather than a commitment to ethical practices or the well-being of the team. The focus often prioritized checklists, metrics, and hasty, questionable decisions over meaningful outcomes.
That said, CONMED can serve as a stepping stone for professionals as it offers some exposure to the industry. However, the lack of principled guidance, low compensation, and toxic environment overshadowed any early positives. I wouldn’t recommend CONMED to those seeking a supportive, growth-oriented workplace with ethical leadership and fair pay.
