Pros

A generally good crew of people from top to bottom, in my experience. I worked at the Hunt Valley, MD location for about 2 years after COPS bought the original central station. Not much changed immediately, gradually we shifted towards their policies. Some of these changes were for the better, some for the worst.

Cons

Retention is terrible and that puts added stress on long time employees to cover. The pay is incredibly low for this kind of work, especially when you consider there is on call shifts as well. It really makes it difficult to take a random day off, especially when you consider how strict the attendance policy is. I wouldn't say the job is incredibly difficult, but I would say the every day employees deserve to be treated a little better. I feel that the employees are generally undervalued and treated as expendable when they're the lifeblood of the company. Not only is the starting pay incredibly low, the raises you get are very low as well. When COPS bought AlarmWatch raises went from about a dollar a year to, at most, .50 cents. And that's if you're lucky.

Not a bad place to work

Pros

flexible schedules, laid back atmosphere. Plenty of opportunity to get raises by passing the evaluations.

Cons

Lots of young immature kids work there. Also there is no real "break" schedule and you have to always ask to leave your station.

Pros

Over the course of an hour I have read multiple reviews by my Current and Former Peers some of which are correct in some places but so disastrously incorrect in others. I must say that when I started with C.O.P.S. Monitoring I was concerned with the pay that I would be starting out at however, I just like many did not see the benefits that this company has to offer to a long term employee. I wanted more pay and before I realized it I was getting quarterly raises, and my paychecks started to get bigger and bigger. Now that I have put in my small amount of time and knowing that their is NO PAY CAP, I don't foresee myself leaving anytime soon. A career with C.O.P.S. has so much more to offer: Cheap and reliable benefits, in-house only advancement opportunities, quarterly raises with no pay-cap, wellness and holiday bonuses, the amazing free holiday parties, with the company expanding and growing larger with every passing day you can rest knowing you have job security, and not only does the management team want to help you progress through the company, they want to reward you for all your hard work. There are so many great things about C.O.P.S., the employees who come and work for a few months or don't even make it out of training have no idea what they are missing out on for not only a job but an experience that will change your life forever. All you have to do is accept the one thing most people these days seem to pass over. It is a job and not a playground or a hang out after school. Peoples lives are in your hands and at any moment you could be on the phone speaking with a person who will be forever thankful that you made a phone call for their safety. All it takes is that one call to change a life, do you think you have what it takes?

Cons

With the new hiring process in play I do not foresee this being a con anymore however, people who come and expect everything for nothing. Wasting the time of our trainers when they could be training someone who actually would like to be a part of the big picture.
