Pros

Promotes from within, great health benefits, extravagant holiday parities, quarterly trips, remarkable yearly retreats for management, 401K match, paid vacations, bonuses... and more! I personally started as a dispatcher, as did many other employees on the management level. COPS is able to recognize great qualities, hard work and dedication.

Cons

If you are not able to get to work on time or on a regular basis you will not be employed with this company for long.

Pros

COPS recognizes individuals who put forth the extra effort, time and care into the company. You get what you give. The President and CEO of the company will recognize and compensate employees with perks such as company trips (quarterly for some depts.), extravagant holiday parties, bonuses, and full benefits. The best part of working here is by far the experience. Everyone is smiling and truly enjoying the time they spend at work. Management promotes personal and professional growth. I have never felt stuck in a "dead-end job". Opportunities are always available to move if I feel its time for a change.

Cons

If you can't be on time, don't work here. The reason most employees are let go is due to attendance. This is a company that relies heavily on their employees being present.

Pros

This is the largest privately owned central station in the country and it continues to grow. Training for the dispatchers is thorough as is the training for the data entry department. Cross training helps everyone understand the company's standards and mission. Quick response time is paramount and they do a good job. The EVP of this company is one of the most professional people I have met. He is intelligent and manages to off-set the lack of professionalism of the president and other management/departments. In my opinion, he is the reason for the continued success of this company.

Cons

Since the pay is not very competitive, this company attracts the younger crowd. Most of the higher level positions are offered first to current employees, so the maturity level and professionalism is generally lacking and is maintained by this promotion process. Dispatchers who have no corporate/business training eventually fill the positions in other departments and management roles and are supervised by other "home-grown" employees, perpetuating this cycle. As a result, there tends to be unhealthy competition and a "My department is better than yours" mentality, often causing unnecessary conflict and a lack of team work. This may be a good first job, but not a good career choice. The president of the company tends to be unprofessional himself (even making inappropriate sexual remarks).
