Pros

Company has long history and continues to increase and grow business opportunities. There are many good workers who are accountable and want to do a good job.

Cons

Company is extremely top heavy from upper management on. Imagine what you would consider top heavy and then double it. Compensation is bad especially in Operations and Service fields mostly thought of because of the high volume of upper management making excellent money. Promotions don't exist, move on and up and your told "it's a lateral move", when it clearly is not (hello we read the job descriptions that we are posting for). PTO is minimum, accrued and you use PTO if your are sick. Bad year for weather/school closings and sickness = docked pay because accrued PTO doesn't cover hours you can't sit at your physical desk. No consistency amongst departments regarding telecommuting, overtime etc. It's no secret some can work from home and others can't. Don't assume it depends on your position of ranking either. Feel free to work overtime without pay because you want to be known as a performer or you will be quickly relieved of your duties.

Pros

I've met some of my closest friends and mentors through working with this company, and I've gained a lot of resume building experiences and achievements. My original team leader and operations manager gave me plenty of opportunities to show my skills when I first started. The first 3 of 4+ years were the best. Not all of management is out of touch, but sadly the ones that were most in touch had the least power. I can safely say that I appreciate the support I got from many of my leaders towards the end of my Career at CSC, although they couldn't mend the damage that had been done after so many years of being overworked and undercompensated.

Cons

There is definitely a salary discrepancy - after 3 years and success sharing /profit sharing, I saw written communication for a new higher with less experience making 4K more than I was making for a lower level position. Not acceptable. But he was male...and that seems to be a common trend. This played a huge role in my leaving CSC There is a need to grow and improve, but on minimal resources, including people. Fortunately, most of the employees share similar frustrations, and could build relationships and friendships on those frustrations (since management was was more keen on Band aid fixes) I do feel bad for some management though, and I want new or prospective employees to understand that for the most part, your team leader or manager will have your back. I sat in many meetings where Team Leaders and Managers were forced to enact policies or release products based on decisions from "directors of sales" and others who were so out of touch with employees and customers. A lot of the times, it's really not the team leaders's fault. I didn't see that at the time I was employed, but it makes sense now.

CSC Response

Thank you for your thoughtful and balanced feedback on your experience at CSC. It sounds like you had some great experiences with leaders, mentoring, friendships, and new opportunities to develop your skills. We would have preferred the chance to address and clarify with you any pay concerns prior to your departure. We strive to make our communities, customers, and employees better off tomorrow than they are today. This includes staying competitive and developing leader tools and skills to help employees succeed. As you know, our compensation program is based on a pay for performance philosophy. We sincerely appreciate your perspective and wish you continued success.
