Pros

They don't lay off people once become permanent but it's because you are getting paid below avg. If you are a contractor, this is a great job for you. You will have 5 year contract and you don't have to do anything.

Cons

Unexperienced and unqualified managment and outsourced HR makes it even worse. You can dream about getting promotion unless you are CEO's friend. Barely cover you with insurance. Forget about your family, they will only cover you. QA is probably the worst department you want to work for.

Pros

From a sales perspective, benefits and pay were good when I was there, but that is supposed to change very soon.

Cons

I worked as an account manager for almost 7 years. You literally can not tell management ANYTHING... You can't even talk to another department without going through a "liason". So if something is wrong with the software (which is ALWAYS the case) you can't really get it though to the right people. Even If you could, they just don't have the man power to fix anything. Calyx is a prime example of a company that became accidentally successful 20 years ago, they didn't copyright protect the disk and everyone shared it, then they got rid of the disks. Think of it as the original way to go VIRAL. The bugs are in the thousands, plus, with TRID regs coming up, I don't think they will be able to handle it regardless of what they say. It's a shame that the management team at Calyx is so shortsighted, I mean they have had spelling errors on their Webcaster website for over 10 years, and when mentioned to them, no big deal, customers won't care is their attitude. It's obvious that last years price change was a way to help them stay afloat. 50-80% increase in price, and most of the customers were not notified... Who does business like that? There is a saying in quite circles at Calyx, it's "there is the right way to do things and then there is the Calyx way". VERY TRUE... Also, support has a handful of excellent people in it, but the majority have minimal mortgage experience, if any, and are temps... Their new line of products Path and Pace are a JOKE. Neither one of them actually works, and Path has security holes in it so big you can drive a truck through it. Pace is where they should be spending their money, but they are trying to go after the larger clients with their Path product because it's MUCH more expensive... but the Pace team is the same 3 or 4 guys that work on Webcaster, Point, PointCentral, and INKit. IF Calyx makes it, they will always be a small broker shop and that is it. Sales manager is just a "yes man" and isn't really involved in anything sales related. One of the Directors in particular is a man that always thinks he is always the smartest man in the room, and he is extremely rude to customers but I don't even think he realizes it. I could go on and on, but you get the picture, and I would think most of their customers do as well. It's just a shame. I wanted to retire there, but I can see the writing on the wall, and it ain't pretty. I've moved on to greener pastures.
