Definition of Micromanagement

Pros

Ability to make your own schedule. Good work / life balance. Starting pay is decent but is set with no raises. Benefits are solid. Coworkers at the same level are friendly and willing to help anyway they can.

Cons

This used to be a great company to work for, but as it has grown they've overcomplicated things and forgotten about the people that helped them get to where they are now. Employees in the field are required to complete several mundane and unnecessary tasks daily, these take away from focusing on your job. No communication between corporate and employees in the field. Account managers are purposely kept in the dark. More and more micromanagement is added every year. Employees are regularly tracked and spied on. No trust between coworkers. Company is on their fourth operations director in as many years... due very tense atmosphere at head quarters. No room for advancement.

Another post from the distressed *former* employee we had to let go. It’s unfortunate this opportunity for feedback for everyone has been diluted by this series of repetitive rants by this one person-- a person who felt “micromanaged” because he wasn’t engaged in the position, relying on the determination of everyone else. Eventually, it has ill effects on other people who are engaged and want to do a good job. On the upside, he’s given us an opportunity to publicly respond! Micromanagement *can’t* happen in a company growing as fast as ours. There’s only one way to grow a company this fast, that’s to hire good people, train them, then *let go* and let them make the decisions. It’s impossible to grow fast otherwise, and we’ve been growing like crazy--doubling our payroll over the past 36 months. We’ve had yet another record-breaking year of sales. We’ve never been stronger. Our average Tech/Account Manager makes over $60k, our top earners, almost $100k. All this is available to you with your hard work and good communication which is welcome anytime. Due to the work of our great team, we've averaged an amazing 50% revenue growth year over year during the past four years. We continue to reinvest in our people by keeping our vans stocked aggressively, keeping our vans stocked better than anyone in the industry. This ensures our awesome technicians are by far, the best paid in the industry. Update: 3/14/15 Improvements to feedback system: One example of many is we constantly looking for ways to improve our feedback system to allow for better communication between our team and upper management. Of course, we still offer our feedback system which has always allowed for anonymous messages to management. We’re rolling out some exciting enhancements just next week that will make the system easier to use. More coming soon!

Pros

The only pro, is that your weekends are free here. Other than that, the pros are non existing.

Cons

Leadership team is inward focused. They want to grow but have a non existent strategy. They cannot support current volumes so why open yourself up to more customer issues that have not yet been solved? Inventory is always the issue, I have to plead with my customers to not leave and go to a competitor. Product is not up to park with competition. I'm afraid the rug will soon be pulled

Our techs are: Much better paid than their peers in other industries. Average $70k, twice what our competitors pay Top performers $100k plus Personal freedom without supervision Best stocked in the industry, with 3 times what competitors have We’re looking forward to even more record-breaking years, and even more opportunities for our team, who are provided the best pay, most inventory, best working conditions, and the most opportunities in the industry--by far! 1) From our job posting: “After one year, our typical tech earns over $68,000 per year. Our top 30% earn over $82,000 per year. Our highest performers make over $110,000 per year.” All those things are true, except one. Our average tech earns not $68k, but, rather $70k. It's mathematical evidence of our management and ownership's commitment to having the best paid technicians in the history of the industry. No one comes close, with our techs earning 2-3 times what competitors pay. 2) We have a robust communications suite that goes all the way to top management and ownership so team members can voice their opinions about any subject--even anonymously. You can use email, text, or phone. Since we never heard anything from this person, it looks like more sabotaging posts from a troubled former employee that posts repeated fake negative posts. It’s sad because this site could be used for good, but it's reduced to so many phony posts. 3) With that said, that post gives us the opportunity to respond, and announce some exciting news! We have two national accounts joining soon, which will bring our average 50% year-over-year growth even higher. Also, we’re instituting a program allowing our field technicians yet another level of promotion with the ability to manage others. Yet another program allows techs to sell our services, allowing them to earn even more! 4) Our techs get the most personal freedom in the industry. While our competitors are largely confined to one location, our techs are highly mobile and self-supervised. 5) We stock our service vehicles with three times more keys than our competitors do, allowing our techs to earn twice to three times what our competitors pay. Our highest performers earn over six figure incomes. We’re so proud to offer this tremendous opportunity so rare in today’s economy. We’re looking forward to even more record-breaking years, and even more opportunities for our team, who are provided the best pay, most inventory, best working conditions, and the most opportunities in the industry--by far!

Pros

Growth of company and experience with non management employees was pleasant and professional. Corporate office environment is very progressive. Unique product and outlook for the future.

Cons

Executive / upper management lacks basic professional courtesy and executive acumen in many areas. Executives are not respectful and courtesy to the time and investment of others. Very disappointing experiences when upper management was / is involved.
