Pros

Some of the people are very nice to work with.

Cons

Some major down sides to working for CCPT would be how they are not behind the patients though how deceiving it may be. It feels like more and more you take the less sick with insurance over the broken without. I under stand that you have yo make a profit and everyone complains about money anyway. But what is the point of being a health care provider if you get away from helping people. CCPT feels very top heavy and more like political games. Once you are like "a cool kid" your safe but so help you of your not and things start to slip. I cannot speak for all Carilion but from what I have seen in the past 3 years this is a very broken health care system.

Pros

people care and try to do the right thing most of the time; many interesting people to work with; gives back to the community and tries to improve the health of the community.

Cons

very short sighted with strategy and vision, expect people to work too hard with very little reward or acknowledgement, lack of communication from leaders, have a hard time embracing change and project work is expected to be done in too little time so very difficult to implement sustainable solutions, doesnt pay well.

Pros

Large hospital with a variety of medical disciplines and Level 1 Trauma Center

Cons

Poor Health insurance. I had better insurance as a store clerk and it cost less. Takes an act of God to get your short term disability even though you have paid for it, FMLA is a joke even on Worker's Comp. Had to get the doctor to release me just so I could keep my job even though I shouldn't have been back. Worker's comp is terrible, had a shoulder injury was sent to a knee doctor who said nothing was wrong, 6 wks of therapy and permanent nerve damage then referred to a shoulder specialist who could not do anything other than decompress the site. Have to be in pain for the rest of my life now. Management does not listen to employees, short staff on units because of "special treatment" to certain employees with scheduling. Pay is not good, been there over 5 years, make the same a a new grad, even thought I have had a perfect evaluation each year, we are paid the lowest in the state of VA. No benefits worth speaking of. The rules change from day to day and you have no clue who is in charge, never see them. There is no support for staff,. Doctor's do not respect the nurses and do not communicate with the families.
