      Its a job and company is respected by the community

      During Interview and shadowing the job sounded great! Promises of advancement and great working family. In reality, the pay was low, advancement never happened, and ALWAYS short staffed. Money goes for expanding the company and ignoring the staff that stand by the company. Im not mad. I still work for them today. BUT no one should be led blindly into false promises. Its not fair.

      As a not-for-profit health care system, we are committed to using our resources wisely. This includes growing our services to take care of our community as well as our employees. We periodically, do market research to make sure our pay is competitive. And we are actively recruiting for new talent to join our team.

      Too many chiefs with no support for the indians

      Quality of physicians is wonderful.

      Cons

      Low salaries, administrators care more about money than patient care, plenty of lip service but no real support for overburdened faculty

      We too believe our physicians and staff are wonderful. Carilion is a not-for-profit organization. Any profits we make are reinvested back into the communities we serve through a variety of services and facilities. We periodically do market research analysis on payscales and adjust where we can.

      Pros

      In my 10+ years with Carilion, i've never failed to have a manager that would go to bat for me. I've made a lot of career connections and lifelong friends and have been able to build my career from scratch. Great benefits and perks to being a Carilion employee locally.

      Cons

      Workload tends to be either feast or famine. Unavoidable, though a part of the job!
