Pros

Pays well Endless OT SOME nice employees

Cons

Management is: Insensitive Careless Unorganized I started working there at the end of July and completed my three weeks training. I had requested 3 days off to go to cousins wedding in Virginia and the scheduling manager approved it. We went over the days again on the calendar to confirm. I came back the following Monday morning ready to work and they ended up logging me out of the phones after an hour and a half of being there. Then they called me into the conference room to tell me that they don't have any record of approving those days off. So, they ended up making me leave and give back my badge because I was already in the system as "voluntary termination". I tried getting in contact with them twice via email regarding the issue and no one ever responded to me. On top of that, they keep posting job ads on Craigslist when I was in desperate search for another.

Pros

It's a fast-growing company that still operates with the start-up, competitive mindset. This company could very well go many places and soon become a household name.

Cons

Be prepared to make lots of personal sacrifices if you want to move up with this company. Vacation time is essentially frowned upon, and it's a requirement to be available and get necessary work done at home after a typical 11-hour work day, plus weekends.

Pros

The long term incentive plan ensures a ~10% pay raise through your first four years assuming the stock price doesn’t crater. Also Chewy’s been very flexible with RTO thus far, only requiring 2 days a week of your choice, which is better than most companies, although I would expect Chewy to follow the crowd and increase the required number of days in office soon.

Cons

The work culture is toxic and imported from Amazon. Senior leaders set broad goals which are made up of a long list of things they want to do, but realistically can’t do everything all at once. However, these leaders don’t define tradeoffs or prioritization across these goals. As a result, every team is competing with everyone else for resources to ensure they achieve their own goals, leading to constant conflict between teams and overly pushy team members. I’ve worked for a few companies, and I’ve never worked with so many demanding people with such poor manners (you’re more likely to be questioned why you aren’t doing more than thanked for the worked you’ve done). In terms of career growth, don’t expect any. Chewy is constantly moving the goal posts to make it harder to promote employees while at the same time building a pipeline of underqualified ex-Amazonians to come in and fill more senior roles. Also senior leadership is constantly turning over, and more often than not, it’s involuntary. As soon as your leader falls out of the good graces of the CEO, they will be replaced, meaning there’s no team stability.
