Pros

Dogs at work, standard office snacks, helpful office staff

Cons

Basics: there’s nowhere near enough conference rooms and offices. Have to have 1:1s at desks where others can hear because of the severe shortage. Quarterly bonus based on MBOs. lolwut? Nothing ever comes down from upper management to team management on how to structure MBO. Everything locked down. You can’t even change desktop background off the chewy standard- even among the os standards. High Level: Zero prioritization. It’s whomever talked to CTO last. Been multiple quarters without any roadmap on my team, and the quarters before that the roadmap was thrown out entirely after a couple weeks. Business creates white papers, promises dates to Sumit, and now engineering has to make the date happen despite never hearing anything about the project. We broke apart the monolith so now there’s 30 teams instead of 1, and half the teams are constantly forgotten and brought in way too late

Pros

Co-workers, engagement activities, snacks, unlimited PTO, opportunity to learn a lot.

Cons

New C-suite leaves much to be desired. It's obvious that they are leaving the Chewy culture we all knew and loved in favor of a typical toxic corporate culture where numbers are more important than people. African American employees are not given fair pay or opportunities unless it's a glass cliff situation. There's an obvious lack of women in leadership roles. Management is stressed and so are their teams because of the constant push to grow faster. You will work your tail off to be promoted only for the promotion to be delayed (we're talking months!). I experienced this and witnessed many co workers go through the same thing.

Pros

Coworkers are pleasant. Benefits are affordable.

Cons

You have to park under I35 and go through 2 security checks just to get into the office. How you spend every second of your day is tabulated by the phone software and reported to your superiors. There are severe penalties for lateness and absences. Employees are treated like high school students. If you go to the bathroom too often, you are “coached.” I have had a lot of terrible jobs, but I have never felt as undervalued as a human being in my life as I felt during my short tenure at this place. I think whoever developed the system must have based it on how a correctional facility works. Yikes.
