Pros

The professonal development and traing provide is beneficial. If you are having problems in the class they ofer you coaches. Also they have other teacehers that you can observe so you can perfect your teaching craft.

Cons

Teaching in a turnaround school can be very overwhelming when transitioning out of a traditional classroom. They expect teachers to participate in professioal development during breaks (fall, spring, and summer). Sometimes unpaid.

Pros

Workshops on how to teach using various strategies; free field trips to City museums and cultural venues; good home-buying programs; generally nice and supportive colleagues.

Cons

Lots and lots of new programs and initiatives, but the more things change . . . the more they stay the same, as culture (parents/students/principals) lacks intellectual curiosity, ambition and willingness to work hard to learn concepts, skills and ways of thinking that are new to them.
