Pros

work from home/ PTO when needed, flexible hours

Cons

I have been with the company for over 3 years and will little to show for it. Recently, I have reached out to 4 leaders in regards to seeking mentorship opportunities or simply an opportunity to network and connect, sadly I have just been ignored. I am not sure how a company who enforces communication for their clients, so simply just ignores a simple "let's connect" email. Makes no sense, the company has shifted drastically in the past 3 years. When I joined the company, cubies were filled with rows of happy employees, now- there are tons of empty desks and it's disheartening to see so many people overworked and unhappy. The idea of "it's not in the budget to hire more staff is setting this company up for failure. At the end of the day, internal politics aside, the clients are the ones who suffer. With a company who positions themselves as the "client comes first" for this company- this not the case. The client gets lied to in meeting with a bunch of show-stopper sales pitch and then the teams don't deliver, sadly recruiters are the first on the chopping block. Leaders aren't held accountable as they should be. They bark out commands and needs but aren't the ones providing the strategy to overcome. I will most likely resign soon. With a company that had seemed so much to offer, that dream has sadly run its course. I appreciate this platform as it has allowed so many brave voices finally come to light.

Pros

-Remote work option plus flexible schedule. -Made great friends. -Left. Bonus Pro: -If you love throwing people under the bus, boy is this the place for you!

Cons

The Brand and Social team had a 12 person turnover rate in less than a year. You're not valued by upper management as an expert, co-worker, or human being. You're in constant fear that you're going to lose your job if you fall out of line. If you bring issues or problems to management, you're seen as a 'negative person' and not a team player. Four people were let go in a "restructuring" last year, and since then, all of those positions have been hired back. We lost amazing teammates that Spring, as well as a couple of the best bosses. The managers that were hired to "fix" everything and bring high-level strategy had no experience and did not do their job. You feel extremely replaceable. There were EMPTY promises of promotions. PAY is well UNDER market value. Upper management continues to BULLY and fear monger. We were hourly employees expected to constantly churn out "URGENT" last minute projects, but weren't allowed to "record" our overtime. Both internal and external expectations were never properly managed and all of the work and blame fell on us. We were not given any resources to properly do our jobs because there was never enough importance placed on us. We were expected to be "experts" but were never provided any training opportunities to advance our skills or our career. Cielo has an "own your success" mantra, but it should really say "OWN YOUR SUCCESS, BUT NOT HERE" because that is 100% more accurate. We were denied career advancement opportunities despite multiple attempts to get them and also despite the fact that we were already doing the work for higher positions for ridiculous pay. If you're expecting a level playing field, this is not the place for you. Valid concerns were constantly brushed under the rug and certain people were "untouchable." The scariest part of it all? ALL of this was brought to HR multiple times by multiple people and NOTHING was done about it. Nobody cared. Run. Away.

Pros

Attempts at a positive culture were made, but there were too many changes to the company that made this a completely toxic environment.

Cons

I’ll never forget the day my mother had a stroke. I called my manager in tears asking if I could leave work to go to the hospital and with no sympathy, she said “that’s fine” after a pause, and in a tone that made me feel that I was in trouble. No manager should ever make their employee feel that work should come before a family emergency. Aside from this, I showed up to work on my first day and didn’t know who my manager was. Nobody did. I sat in my desk after being told that my manager would be there to get me in 10 minutes. After about 30, I started asking around and nobody knew. I came to find out my manager lived and worked in Canada - but I was never told this. My manager changed several times within my first few months and I felt like I was being tossed around. I do not recommend this as a viable long-term career option for anyone. The implementation of the SDO model came later, which we were told was to make sure teams were adequately staffed and workloads were balanced. They didn’t listen to employee concerns of manual tracking and logging every single daily task into a computer system. Every. Single. Task. Every day. Along with how many minutes it took to do each task. This felt very elementary from an employee perspective. There is a culture of obvious favoritism and the other reviews that compare some of the teams to “Mean Girls” are not wrong.

Hi, this is Dan Bates, Senior Vice President of Operations. First, I’m very sorry to read about your mom and hope that she’s ok. I’m also disappointed to read about your day one experience. Not knowing who your manager is or where they’re located is unacceptable, and I’m sorry that happened, along with the leadership transitions you experienced early on. The SDO model was built partially to solve for that type of experience. The tracking mechanisms you mentioned do measure activity with the intention of ensuring appropriately-staffed teams and balanced workloads. They are not meant to micro-manage or measure performance. We’re working to automate our core systems and update our reporting tools to avoid the manual nature of how we currently track activity. The goal is to use the data from this reporting to grow our team members’ versatility, leverage their expertise and ultimately, empower them to focus on the aspects of their job that they love. The comments about leaders not caring could not be further from the truth. I would actually say that sometimes we trip over ourselves because we care so much about our people, our clients and the work that we do. I’m concerned that the situation you describe was not brought to my attention, or that of my management team. We pride ourselves on our doors being open, and even now, our phones and Teams chats always being available. I’d love the opportunity to speak directly with you about the experience you describe so we can better understand where we can improve, please contact me. I can be reached at daniel.bates@cielotalent.com or 262.439.1294.
