Terrible Company

Pros

MilwaukeeJobs.com is a great company to work for... if you are right out of college and not planning on having a life/family for a bit. They offer nice benefits, but they have absolutely no flexibility.

Cons

You have to constantly tell management how lucky you are to have the opportunity to work there instead of them actually valuing their employees. If you aren't one of their favorites, you're easily-replaceable in their minds They focus on the wrong areas (would rather have you hit your 100 dials and 20 connects with companies than have you making valuable conversations with companies, as one example...) and micromanage you to death They offer opportunities to work from home, use "comp" time for appointments that have to be done during business hours, but rarely approve them unless you are a favorite The hours are 7:45-5, but they expect you to come in early and work late EVERY day. You aren't allowed to prospect or make your business presentations during business hours.

Sales - Cold Calling

Pros

Firm offered benefits, piped in satellite radio and had a lunch area with ping pong table. It was close to my home so I could walk there.

Cons

When I took the job I thought of all of the businesses I could call and inquire about, big businesses that everyone knows, Harlely, Aurora, the casino, but they have a rule that you can't call them if another person is already working with them, which honestly is a good thing because no one can poach your business and HR folks aren't getting 800 calls from random people. But what was left over wasn't enough to build a book on. The commission structure is tiered. As soon as you get a groove and start making money, they change the rules and you make less. The rule change was that you had to sell more to keep more of your commissions. It was really demotivating knowing that I worked so hard to get established and make a paycheck and then have the rules changed and my paycheck change. You have to make a minimum of 80 cold calls a day. It's really REALLY hard to move up into a senior role or grow your book because its already taken. Some of the best accounts are handed to people who are "lifers". All of my interactions with the CEO were awful! He's an arrogant man who does not listen to employees, compromise or share. He is above the employees and we are just lucky to have a job at his firm. Very big ego. You need to stroke it to be on the way up.

Pros

It was a challenging and enjoyable work environment with tons of energetic people. The culture is fantastic. You really learn a lot and it has the best managers I've ever worked for. Will miss the daily interaction with so many great co-workers and friends.

Cons

There are no cons that I can think of.
