Cons

so many cons: - benefits suck, no 401K contribution NONE - medical benefits expensive and not good - no raises in years - no room for career advancement or growth - top heavy (too many chiefs not enough Indians) so many VPs doing nothing all day - vacation time sucks

Pros

Lots of opportunities for advancement if you are willing to move.

Cons

It usually isn’t the fault of the middle management, but the corporate philosophy is to do as much as possible with as little as possible. They work people as hard as they possibly can. Getting pay increases is extremely difficult - even when you get promoted. There is zero thought given to the long-term effects of burning people out, training people properly, having the resources to be able to do the work well. They will pile more stuff (often not related to your job) on as soon as they see you able to take a breath. And once you touch it, it is your responsibility forever. Honestly, it is an awful company to work for. There is a very good reason all quality people end up leaving. The reason there is so much opportunity for advancement is because the turnover is so high. But don’t plan on getting in, getting promoted, then moving to another company with the higher job title; Clean Harbors does such a poor job training people that the people who expect to take the knowledge they gain from working there and apply it to a new job at a different company often find themselves in over their head.

Pros

The recent upgrades are visually appealing, the systems they’ve build are very intuitive, and the benefits are average.

Cons

It pains me to say, but virtually everything else is a con. They promote and encourage a browser line abusive style of management. It comes directly from executive, and has an obvious effect on the company moral. I’ve seen so many good reviews, many of which I could point to as colleagues. Please take them with a grain of salt. The last few years, it had come to the attention of HE/executive staff that turnover was becoming a huge issues, especially with driver positions. They’ve started a huge project to overhaul their Glassdoor and online presence to lure more applicants in to help solve the turnover rate. The issue is that they haven’t made any substantial efforts to improve the lives of employees. Instead, they chose to harras managers internally to write Glassdoor reviews in their favor; gently reminding them that they were gracious enough to promote them, and it’s the least you could do for the company. I tell you this out of immense compassion, unless you need employment desperately, please don’t consider Clean Harbors. It’s a world of false promises, neglect, massively unsustainable work loads, and abusive management. This company was once such an amazing force, but is now just another corporation being run to the ground with greed.
