Pros

Clear Capital is an innovative, growing company with a strong corporate culture. With 300+ people in its Truckee office, the work environment is lively and friendly. Part of why you love what you do and coming into the office is because you enjoy the company of your colleagues. If you like the structure of a corporate environment (which I do), with office hours, accountability and teamwork, Clear Capital is the place for you. The ownership and management are focused on the growth and health of the company. We never do things because it's the way we've always done them. Feedback is always welcomed. And at every level in the organization, you are expected to take ownership of your job. In a community of small businesses that rely on tourism, growth is a struggle. Clear Capital has continued to grow since it was founded in 2001 and through the recession. There's a ton of peace of mind in this. I have worked for companies where the owners and top level managers were delegators and never present. At Clear Capital, this is very different. No one works harder or pulls longer hours than its owners, Executive leadership, and directors. They really inspire you do work hard and care as much as they do. Clear Capital offers a great health, vision, dental, 401K plan. After working in a corporate job in the city for years, I took good health insurance for granted. Never again! After paying high premiums for a PPO that only offered catastrophic health insurance, I will never take paid health insurance and really good health insurance for granted.

Cons

Truckee-Tahoe is an amazing recreational community that offers a lot of flexibility in seasonal positions. "Powder days" and "Tahoe time" are commonly used terms. After big storms, there are lots of people who take the next day off to ski or board. "Tahoe time" refers to our easy going way of life and the idea of not being on a schedule. You may find people in Tahoe stroll and move at their own pace, which means they're often late. Clear Capital doesn't offer this type of flexibility. You have clear working hours and are expected to arrive to the office on time, take your allotted breaks and leave no sooner than when your workday ends. If you choose to take a powder day, you're taking from your two weeks of paid vacation.

Pros

1) No out pocket monthly cont. for medical 2) In Truckee, CA 3) Coworkers are great, like minded people

Cons

Where to start... I read the reviews before typing my own, all the negative comments are accurate, Sweatshop and Office Space are perfect comparisons. Constant OT, you have a 50 hour a week job, not a 40. You're virtually chained to your IKEA desk. My 5 teammates would always joke about singing songs out loud while our team lead stood behind us with a whip. SweatSpace only succeeds because no one wants to work for $10 an hour at the ski resorts. The founders of the company started the business 10-12 years ago, now it has grown to 300+ people and they have no idea how to manage a medium sized company. I watched several very experienced VPs get hired on from outside the company and get fired in less than 6 months. Executive management wants ditch-diggers who say yes without question. If you disagree with a direction and voice your opinion then you make their secret blacklist. Once there, you haven't a chance to move up in the company. If you decide to work here, please do yourself a favor and don't take your job seriously, use it as stepping stone while you enjoy what Truckee has to offer.

Pros

Amazing location in a beautiful mountain town. Minutes to ski resorts. You work with some good people who are really working hard.

Cons

The company is managed by bad people. They have fostered a culture of staleness and actively fight well-established technical realities such as agile SDLC and modern development practices.
