Pros

Pay is average for the industry/region. Good camaraderie amongst lower level team members.

Cons

They lie, compulsively. To their employees, clients, and subs. They put all the wrong people into the most important and impactful positions, because it’s not about what you know, it’s about who you know. Upper management is totally hands off refusing to action on obvious and avoidable issues until the 13th hour, then storm in and completely hamstring the job by micromanaging. Not only this, but when you do as instructed, and it doesn’t turn out how management expected in their heads, this is somehow your fault. Needless to say, executives never follow through on their responsibilities, but thats ok because they dont need to be accountable I guess. They hold payment on subs, and refuse to process change orders until it impacts the schedule negatively, then blame lower level employees for material and labor not being available in time, as if we are supposed to force our subs to work for free. This is essentially how they manage their margin since they consistently underbid and understaff projects. Expect to be on site 12 hours a day minimum, and a commute of over an hour each direction since there is zero consideration for your personal life when it comes to staffing jobs. It wont stop there either, they want you answering emails and calls 24/7. Beyond that, I've personally witnessed executives cursing out and SCREAMING at (emphasis needed here) estimators, Interns, PEs, APMs, PMs, Supers, and Subs. You WILL be endlessly berated. I had a number of team members express to me their anxiety about executive visits to the project, because we all knew someone was going to get their head chewed off whenever they came out. This was from positions as low as intern, all the way up to the lead superintendent. When your projects culminates in disaster due to all of the circumstances forced on you by execs (lack of adequate staffing, no follow through on high level issues, forced hiring of poor performing subs based on low price) they will fire you, so that they can show their bosses they took some kind of action. Executive’s promises of promotion, project reassignment, and raises were broken multiple times on coworkers and myself. Beyond all of this, they are in the process of acquiring Lend Lease NY, and are cleaning both houses. LL apparently sold due to their NY construction margins not being good enough, so Consigli, who can’t manage a margin to save their lives, is somehow going to run those projects more efficiently? I’ll let you draw your own conclusions there. Bottom line, it doesn’t matter if you are an employee, a sub, or a client, you will be treated poorly. I write this in the hopes that it will help whoever reads it to avoid the same mistake I made of working with them.
