Low pay, poor leadership, no appreciation

Pros

I did meet some nice people while I was there and it started out good. But then the business changed.

Cons

The business model changed from a managed services provider to outsource call center after the first year. As a result, my role changed completely but I committed to the new responsibilities. The person I reported to went more than a month without meeting with, or even speaking to, me. When we did talk, his feedback was positive but I found out later he and other senior leaders were not happy with me. The site leader is more of a dictator/manager than a leader and decisions seem to be made without regard for impact to people. There is a lack of foresight and strategic planning, instead a "just get it done" mentality. I saw a total lack of appreciation for the people side of the equation. The main focus is to put up the "smoke and mirrors" to get new clients and cut costs in every way. Feels like a sweatshop.

Thank you for your candid feedback. It is clear we failed you and for that I am sorry. Our employees are our biggest asset and it appears we may have dropped the ball with opportunities for better communication. As with any business, we change to meet the needs of the market and industry and of course to remain competitive. Communication is a powerful tool and should be used daily. We have made great strides over the last couple of months to be more visible as a leadership team, engage in conversations with all employees and establish more formal meetings where we meet with employees to discuss business and share ideas with each other. We hope you have found success in your new venture!

It's a nightmare

Pros

There is oxygen in the building. I have to write more because they need 20 words at a minimum. Did I mention they don't drug test?

Cons

Paychecks are incorrect 50% of the time, raises for taking on additional work are offered but not fulfilled, the building is either way too hot or cold (usually cold), rules are not enforced but when they are it's only to certain people. Middle management does nothing but go to and from the smokers area and when bothered with unimportant issues such as client/customer/equipment issues which makes them taunt or belittle you. Co workers who smell awful and act in erratic behaviors (there are a few people who look more homeless than people begging with signs), the building is filthy and have been confirmed cases of bed bugs in the office that management refuses to shut down and address due to having to stop operations. They offer incentives that are never followed up on. The pay is awful, I'd say 75% of the full time employees still qualify for government assistance yet they still have the nerve to ask for donations on the companies behalf. Parking is a joke, as it's in a strip mall and with most of the other businesses operating on normal hours, those who have to work at this joke of a company over night or on weekends usually find their cars broken into (my own car on three separate occasions). Training to support third party products is haphazard and generally done by someone who has the same job title as you but is either jaded as hell by the company, knows nothing or smells so bad you can't focus on what you are supposed to be learning. The guy that trained me wouldn't take his earbuds out at any point and was very rude and unapproachable.

Growing company with many opportunities

Pros

ContactUS is a growing company, and there is a good career path for employees who are dependable. I've seen many recent promotions as the company brings on new business. ContactUS also has a pretty generous attendance bonus, a great way to earn extra money if you have perfect attendance for a pay period.

Cons

Like any rapidly growing company, there are growing pains, but they are no worse than what you'd find elsewhere. Sometimes processes change, and the communication about the change doesn't flow as fast and clearly as everyone would like.

Thanks for the feedback, this is great information! I'm so glad to hear you and hopefully other team members are seeing the career path here at ContactUS. You're right, with growth comes those pesky growing pains but we all learn from every experience and part of that experience is something as positive as promotion opportunities! Hopefully you are taking advantage of these. Every day we make improvements to our onboarding and training processes - in large part from the feedback we receive from employees so please keep the feedback coming! We greatly appreciate it!
