Thanks for your feedback and your understanding. No one ever wants to resort to layoffs. But hopefully, we’re never in this position again. We agree we have some great people and are glad you think so, too!

Thanks! We love being able to offer work-from-home opportunities, and there are tons of fun perks like quarterly get-togethers and virtual meetups that help teams stay connected. Hopefully, you can take advantage of some of these events! And we’re always open to new suggestions!

Descent into chaos

Pros

- Good retirement program - Great health insurance if no dependents (employer HSA contributions!) - Outstanding characters - Tech stack has improved dramatically, exception is with repo names - Lots of engineers are willing to help. You could ask a junior a silly question as a senior engineer, and the junior would happily assist. - Will be around for a long time due to its market, assets, insane margins, and investment in itself. - Managers are fantastic and invest heavily in your development. Will only lose your job in extreme circumstances or due to a layoff.

Cons

- CEO gets involved seasonally and can ask too much. Completely erratic and can derail your entire team. However, it's really not that big of a deal. Metaphorically, CEO can ask for a rocket to Jupiter, and is happy with a can of unleaded gasoline. Just takes a while to understand and get used to. - Company has lost its way with customer service, which used to be top notch. - Not a lot of emphasis on removing tech debt when possible - Not in a good spot financially at this time, and laid off employees a week after they said they wouldn't. The same year, they took all employees to Vegas. - You need to work overtime in order to perform similarly to peers depending on your team, because they actually do. Some say you don't, but many coworkers were open about occasionally working late or weekends to get stuff done.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We understand the frustration our recent changes caused for many talented people. We don’t take that lightly and deeply regret the impact it’s had on our employees and their families. Moving forward, Corporate Tools is taking concrete steps to streamline and improve our overall internal organization. To clarify, Corporate Tools does not expect or encourage employees to work off the clock and believes strongly in a healthy work-life balance.
