Pros

Monday-Friday work (Most of the time). Light deliveries.

Cons

Route Drivers make great pay in Des Plaines, IL, but Mediocre pay outside of the corporate office routes to do the same job. Sales will be lost due to poor logistics and communication from the corporate warehouse. Cynical, condescending and demeaning attitude towards drivers from all contacts in corporate which unfortunately you have to deal with on a daily basis because they have no administration outside of the central office. Utter lack of respect for the field employees. Poor logistics and communication from administrators and management to the front line employees. Poor work culture.

Pros

Good benefits , Some of the employees were good to work for / with , only 6 holidays a year due to the nature of the business . Pay was average for the role .

Cons

Was hired based on experience Was expected to know the process after being shown only once . When I asked a question the answer was I was shown that already . Little or no help in solving issues . Worked with bad data and was told not to worry about it then told I should have known better . You are on a 60 day probationary period . I was told it was not fair to me that they could not spend the proper amount of time training , one week later was let go for not meeting expectations . Without being properly trained , how can you meet expectations .

Pros

Great starting pay with great benefits. Job requires servicing local and national restaurant chains and supermarkets with a knife service exchanged every week or every two weeks, depending on the account. Relatively easy work once you learn the route. Work week is Mon-Fri every week come rain or shine.

Cons

Raises or hard to come by and the hours are long. Day starts at 4:30am and could last as late as 6 or 7pm, especially in the beginning. Once you are shown the route, that changes daily over a two week cycle, you are expected to sink or swim. It is during this period of time when drivers are working long hours to complete the route without support or encouragement. Because the starting pay is so good your job is always held over your head to succeed or quit. If you can't handle it they will find someone who can. This job is not for the faint of heart (because of the management culture) or suited for a family man because of the long hours.
