Pros

I can’t think of any that are left.

Cons

I’ve been working at Crowe for a few years now, and at first, they marketed the firm as a more caring alternative to the big 4. All that they are now is a firm with equally poor work-life balance, much lower compensation, even worse company culture due to incompetent senior management, and none of the name recognition that bigger accounting firms provide. Every single week, we hear about another incentive that senior management is removing. Raises and bonuses have significantly been shrinking each year, and more and more people have been leaving the firm. Crowe hasn’t been replacing the employees who leave, so our jobs and hours have been getting more unbearable. This causes deadlines for client deliverables to suffer and will ultimately cause the firm to lose clients/ revenue.

Pros

Events to attempt and bring colleagues together. Some employees are very nice while others are total thugs.

Cons

One of the worst political, bureaucratically, ineffective “firms”out there. They bring you in making it seem like your entering la la land but it’s nothing short of a disaster when you enter. The NY office has very incapable, no good for “leaders”. They are Partner in the firm, when they’re experience, proffesional behavior, industry “fame” should make them no more than a supervisor. When there is a undeveloped practice, they’re method is to bring in industry thought leaders and badger and harass them if they don’t bring in business within the first few months! In order to bring in top firm work, you need a top firm infrastructure. No one wants to hire or pay employees, but if you want a practice to run that’s what required. I left the firm in search of a more entrepreneurial firm. The firm is more focused on technology than accounting. As we continue in this advanced world, it is good to be ahead of technology but you can’t be solely focused on that. Firm pays more attention than audit, tax, consulting. Every few months there is SEC violation after violation. Firm has paid MILLIONS in damages and rewards within the last year. Total shame. Don’t get fooled by their awards for lifestyle. It is a total scam. This is the worst accounting firm. Better to join large firms who advance based on talent, not based on who brings in the most apples to suck up to the OMP.

Pros

The onboarding process was fantastic. Got to meet people from almost every office in the country. They provide great benefits and PTO. The location of the Columbus Office is great, right next to the arena. Most of the seniors and staff there are hard-working and great to work with!

Cons

While the firm stressed a "Work-Life" Balance, this was always difficult to achieve, even when it wasn't tax season. Managers would get upset if staff and seniors didn't work 60-65 hours a week in off-season. The seniors were way overloaded with work but the company wasn't bringing on any new seniors, only new managers. Many of the seniors and managers did not know how to correctly use workpapers, so they couldn't train new staff on how to correctly complete workpapers, but then they would get angry when it wasn't correct. Many members of management seemed to enjoy putting staff down and making them feel worse about themselves. One manager would even give staff poor performance evaluations if they disagreed with her.
