Pros

Good benefits. Many friendly coworkers.

Cons

Upper management needs a revamp. The "chosen" get promoted. Managers hire friends... not the most qualified or best fit for the group..... that leads to low employee morale and lower productivity. Vp’s gets their kids hired….. most don’t last long. There are surveys where employees can rate managers. Even if the manager gets a terrible score, they are kept in their position…. Year after year. It’s crazy. There is a real push to diversify the workforce. It may be a guise to get more women in the workforce and pay them less. From salary data I have gathered from laid off workers, women make much less than the male counterparts. A VP actually told me that I did not get a position due to politics, even though I was the best fit. So if you work here, good luck. Get some experience, move on and make more $ elsewhere….. find a place with a better culture that rewards talent…. there are plenty out there.

Not for Talented IT Professionals

Pros

The salary and benefits packages are competitive, especially compared to the region. Depending on manager, there is some reasonable flexibility in the work schedule

Cons

This is the last place that anybody that considers themselves a serious IT professional should consider working. Morale in the IT department is at an all time low, with the most often repeated phrase being "This used to be a great place to work." Instead of actively trying to fix the problems, upper management seems to continue doubling-down on plans that have consistently failed.

IT has gone WAY downhill

Pros

Great co-workers who are always eager to help Salary & benefits Flexible work hours

Cons

The latest regime to take over IT (about 1 year ago) do NOT know what is going on in the IT department. A few were hired to be hatchet men, to get rid of people & reduce the bottom line. Seems like the new business model for IT is to get rid of FTEs and replace them with contractors. Crowley used to be a great company to work for, but their new motto 'Do more with less' succinctly defines the new corporate thinking. A shame to see such a drastic change, but it seems that a lot of IT departments are doing the same.
