Pros

Company leaders are very honest and transparent--they lay out our company's goals, performance and headwinds in a very clear and concise manner. The encourage us to be honest in our feedback and expect us to receive feedback in kind. I've never (in all my years) been afraid to speak up and offer my opinion/feedback on anything.

Cons

This is a company, for profit. Company's don't do everything YOU want them to do and that's OK. Some times they decide to go in a direction that folks don't like and I understand that as well. Ultimately this is a growing company--has been as long as I've been here--and there are a lot of growing pains that come with that.

They have great benefits, and an amazing work environment. Free lunches once a week

Cons

They worked us to the bone in 2022, having us work overtime for what amounted to 7 months over the course of the year. (We worked 10 hour days for 7/12 months in the year) They also delayed raises for employees based on the promise of a new pay plan. Then in January, when the new pay plan was to be revealed, they laid off everyone in Reno and Charlottesville, all the while maintaining the company had positive financial health in team and company meetings.

To address the layoffs, Custom Ink closed two of our production facilities in January, impacting 358 people in Reno, NV and Charlottesville, VA, due to increasing production costs and tight labor markets. About 400 team members remain employed in other roles in those locations. We also supported Inkers through their transition with generous severance packages and an extended benefits period. We acknowledge and understand that these decisions deeply affected people’s lives, and we are committed to providing individuals with the care and support they need during their transitions.
