Pros

Without a doubt, the people make your experience at Cvent great. Many have made lasting friendships and it shows. Benefits and office perks are good, with a social and collaborative environment. The company has really invested to bring global teams together with state of the art meeting/conferencing technology - it's the best I've ever seen.

Cons

As the review title states, the number of hours you work is valued more than the quality of work you are producing. "Eighty is the new hundred" is a mantra you will hear often which means sacrificing productivity and work-life balance to be seen sitting at your desk, being the first to arrive and the last to leave just to produce mediocre work. Execs have been known to take note of who is still working at 6 or 6:30pm and when you come in and leave has been tracked in the past. If you can thrive in a chaotic environment with constantly shifting priorities and projects that do not align with the goals of the business, then this may be right for you. Some departments seem to be more stable than others, but many are run by the demands of the CEO, President and some EVPs. VPs and other senior leaders are rarely empowered to make decisions which is then carried down to managers and employees. That has created a toxic environment for many and morale in some departments are at an all time low yet nothing is ever done.

Pros

Smart coworkers, fun company, fast growing company, opportunity to be involved with many parts of the SDLC and learn a lot of technologies.

Cons

45 hour minimum work week, everything you do is tracked and has to match between timesheet and Jira/Salesforce. You can rarely leave before 6PM and hours are made worse by trying to meet with team in India. Slow days are the most stressful because you can't take a breath. You always need to find something to put on your timesheet to "prove" to management you were working on something. As the years go on, the position becomes more and more of a role where you need to churn support tickets as fast as you can and your value is measure largely on how many cases you can complete a day. Communication from management to regular engineers is poor and everything feels like a secret you aren't allowed to know about. Pay is not on par with the level of responsibility you have when you end up owning high severity production issues and working weekends to figure out problems.

Pros

When you walk into the building, you can't help but think "wow this place is awesome". It has a very young culture with ping pong tables, open floor concept, beers on tap, and the "work hard play hard" mentality. You can get experience here and get a title... to which you can take and go somewhere else.

Cons

Literally everything. When I first started the CEO came in and bragged about how they would never have to lay anyone off because of how he has set everything up. It was like his GO TO pitch. Well 2020 happened and he laid off 10% of his work force. I was not not laid off with them, but this just goes to show the kind of mentality that this guy has. Over pompous and a liar. New to the work force or tech world? Well congratulations, if you work here you are locked into a 2 year contract, meaning that they take 6 months to train you, and since you are not doing any work, they are loaning you that money to get trained, so if you leave before that 2 years, you owe them the remainder of that money. But here is the catch, starting off new, you are lucky if they pay you more than 50k a year. Raises and bonuses? They give a raise once a year, but will give promotions twice a year. So let's say you you get promoted in June, your pay won't get bumped up until the following March. In addition, they use a tiered pay system, so it really depends on your title and the number of years that you work there. You could get promoted to a senior, but get the same pay raise as someone who has not gotten promoted. Do you like have managers that think they are sorority/fraternity heads? Well if so, this is the place for you! If you work in CX you have an hourly pay that equals out to a salary. So if you ever move to a position where you are now salary, 99.9% sure you will work more and not make as much. Recruiting will lure you in in ANY ways that they can. I also know former recruiters from Cvent, why do they have a 3.7 on Glassdoor? Their recruiting team will make multiple emails to boost their ratings. Focus on the bad ones if you are looking for an honest review.
