I was so excited to start my career with D&M Leasing. It was everything I wanted in a career in the automotive industry. I knew I had the skills to succeed and become a top performer. A week after my training, I asked my manager about moving to a different position for a time and then coming back to the leasing position. A simple conversation turned into the end of a very short-lived career. He told me he thought I should just resign from the company and even wrote a resignation statement and told me to sign it. I begged him to let me stay, but he told me he would just stop giving me LEADS. I felt I had no choice but to leave. I wish I would have reached out to a different manager who I feel would have had a much better response. This person even questioned why I spoke well and not like one of my colleagues of the same race. That was entirely demeaning. I was shocked. To make matters worse, I was promised by this manager I could get my career back. He even shook my hand on that. Yet, when I've reached out to members of the company, I was turned away. I wouldn't be surprised if he badmouth me. I have never been so disappointed and hurt in my life. I can't help but think how differently things could have gone if I had a direct manager who could have shown me an ounce of compassion and
