Best Company I've Worked For

Pros

Supervisors who will actually listen to you and do something about your complaint (within reason). Room to quickly move up if you're ambitious. Friendly environment. (Good) Lunches provided on the weekends and on every last Friday of the month. Never a bored moment - there's new stuff happening every day.

Cons

Some of the training can be better, though I will admit that a lot of training takes place on the floor.

Pros

There are a lot of pros that outweigh the cons of the business. The company is constantly moving up employees. There is constant room for growth. The company feeds you! Every last friday and every weekend you get a free meal. The company rids the ugliness. The company doesn't tolerate any inappropriate behavior in terms of harassment or name calling regardless if it is a joke or not, if you do that YOU WILL BE GONE, which is wonderful and I feel rare in current business offices! Currently I am still employed but have already put in my two weeks. I've only done so because I am moving to a different state to pursue other goals. But if that were not happening I could see myself staying here a long time. Overall the job isn't that difficult. The frustration comes from call volume and work load and the ignorance of the people you have to talk to on the phone. Great place to work. Solid pay. Lots of PTO. Highly Reccomended!!!

Cons

There are a few cons. The company is short staffed and has a large base of customers. Hundreds of people call into the help desk everyday but there are only a few dozen employees at the help desk. There are times that it gets overwhelming. The people you talk to have no experience or training, so they have no idea what you're talking about when you need to walk them through something. Management does all they can, but based on how busy they are all the time, sometimes they are not able to provide the help needed. But they do try their very best.

We are always working on ways to retain employees and opportunity for advancement plays a large part in that. Working for DUMAC most certainly can turn into a career for those that want it and we have several employees that can speak to that. Good Company to Work For

Pros

Overall, the employees and many of the managers are good people. it's nice occasionally getting free lunches (but not necessary. In the past we have gotten bonuses. quarterly, that helps. The local management is great, they are concerned about us significantly.

Cons

Now, don't get me wrong it's a great company to work for but, we have product lines that the expert is unknown outside of a select few in Syracuse (home office). They don't publish a list of SMEs. Management in Syracuse is not familiar with our current products. We are in the process of becoming a large company and the management we currently have is not what we need to grow fast.

We are responsible for people related items in an organization and since most items in a business involve people, HR can be involved in several different areas of the business on any given day.
