Overall Great Place to Work

Pros

You are quickly able to get experience working with federal clients. Also, there are opportunities to support other areas internally to expand your skillset based on interest. You have the ability to make the most of your time at DFC should you choose to do so. My management is great and I feel that I can be honest about my interests and career goals.

Cons

There are some culture challenges, but note this does not apply to the entire company although it can be felt throughout from my perspective.

Great people

Pros

Interesting projects in federal health and challenging work with a strong client reputation. People are friendly, supportive and smart. Good amount of fun activities and collaboration. Appreciate the amount of work-life balance I have.

Cons

Learning curve on some projects is high. Some clients are fast-paced. Doesn't require travel. Can be slow to adapt to new trends, but just added new benefits and keeps asking for feedback.

Be Prepared and Be Aware

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

Good first job to get into the consulting world and gain experience. Some managers allow junior staff facetime with clients, however, some think junior staff are not capable of meeting clients in a professional environment.

Cons

The salary is extremely below average for the industry and the benefits at other companies are far superior. Duty First tends to treat their employees like children instead of trusting them to be adults. Be prepared to have to work long hours on some projects and have to explain your every minute on the clock. The culture is quite cliquey, and leadership tends to be ignorant of any issues even when brought to their attention. Leadership is unwilling to make changes that would improve the company in any way because it is too much effort for them.
