Pros

AI Cyber Security sounds cool

Cons

I joined 11 months ago with a team of 28 and watches it dwindle down to just 12 (company hired 2-3 new ISR’s per month). Company never asked anyone to leave/ put on pip and rep failed to hit. Literally just that many people were unhappy and wanted to leave. To sum it up: -poor management -zero transparency from leadership -have an “in-house developed” CRM that does not function as a CRM should and has an enormous amount of duplicate leads -leadership does not want to promote BDR’s into selling roles -you will get a bunch of free lunches, breakfasts, Uber eats gift cards, Mac books, and all the other boujee things that come with joining a cyber security start up but the company will not even spend money on a functional CRM or any additional resources for its sales people. Company simply does not value its sales people

Pros

If you use those who have been successful as a resource this role provides a great opportunity to develop sales acumen in SMB and MidMarket space selling to Director level/Csuite. Once you get in the door with a client, the technology does a lot of the selling itself (but keep in mind it's $$$$$$).

Cons

Rough comp plan, disconnect from HQ in UK which manifests itself as fear mongering. The role is promoted as an autonomous, entrepreneurial role yet when shelter in place hit due to covid there were literally 5 mandatory meetings at 9am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm and 5pm to ensure 'productivity'. high travel outside of work hours back when traveling was still a thing. And to top it off not much opportunity for career/professional development. Management will tell you about how they were promoted within 9 months of working there but that was a different time. No real help from inside sales and now that in person marketing events are a thing of the past your best bet for lead generation is gone. Ask the person you interview with how many members of the team actually hit their quota.

Great Company with Plenty of Opportunity

Pros

This is a high growth, fast paced environment with plenty of unique challenges that ultimately help advanced your career. Individuals with a positive attitude, willingness to innovate, and dedication to the company's success are rewarded with promotion, pay increases, bonuses, and equity. You ultimately determine your own success at this company, and if you approach it with the right attitude you will be rewarded. There are plenty of opportunities for travel, consulting with Fortune 500 companies, and attending conferences. The majority of my work is production based, so I have plenty of time for side projects or research as I see fit once my major duties are complete for the day. Management is hands-off unless there is a major customer issue or if tasks are not completed. My leadership team have always been very supportive with personal and professional matters. This includes everyone up to the CEO. They are willing to listen to new ideas and have been known to send staff to the U.K. to meet with the investors to pitch new ideas for product improvements. 15 days PTO plus 5 sick and 10 paid holidays (to include day after Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve). Health care is 100% paid for by the company and is an overall AMAZING plan.

Cons

This is a security company and the leadership will not hesitate to remind you of that fact. This may be a slightly unnerving for employees coming from non-security or government backgrounds. This is a non-issue for Security-conscious employees as well as those with federal government experience. This is not a typical Bay Area startup. The company is focused on its growth and has forgone common Bay Area perks as a result. You definitely can't bring your dog to work and there are no amenities beyond free coffee and Friday lunch. Expect to wear business casual at a minimum. Feedback from both customers and management can be lacking, which is frustrating. Outside training opportunities are non-existent and there are no funds available for training on personal time. A 401K was recently implemented but is significantly below the average match offered at other Bay Area companies. Personal disability insurance is not offered. Telecommuting exists but is generally frowned upon. A more liberal policy will go a long way, especially for those who commute absurd distances in the Bay Area or have children.
