Pros

Great foot in the door for those who want to move on to bigger and better things. One of the largest networks in the world on your resume is always good. Plenty of training opportunities provided, but hindered by DoD funding. The pay is very good as well as the benefits.

Cons

Promotion by kissing butt. Promotion by drinking buddies. Promising the customer (war fighter) something we cannot realistically provide. Organized chaos. Employee turn-over rate is ridiculous. Non-technical people in technical lead positions.

Pros

The scope and diversity of the mission is incredible.

Cons

Middle managers work here forever. They are more concerned with protecting their turf and their titles than providing cutting edge technologies to the folks that need it. When things get done it is with the push from the Director or the Vice, not because the byzantine bureaucracy allows it. Unfortunately, because as one reviewer stated they are "trying to do way too much with few resources" this also means critical missions get cut when new flash-bang priorities surface from DoD leadership.

Pros

DISA is doing a great job becoming the go-to service provider for Enterprise E-mail (DEE), Collaboration (DCO) and Sharepoint services (DEPS). The agency is also embracing a Bring your own Device (BYOD) mindset for mobile communications and has over 1000 pilot iPads, IPhones and Droid devices that are capable of receiving Enterprise E-mail.

Cons

While there are many smart and dedicated professionals, there are also scores of workers who do the bare minimum and do not have the work ethic to move the agency towards the Director's vision.
