Ideology and politics are frequently prioritized over student outcomes. The district claims to be "data-driven", but data is only regarded when it supports a predetermined conclusion. Non-existent career advancement opportunities unless you're willing to change department/roles.

There are nice and helpful people around, cheap food.

Cons

Unprofessional management with lack of knowledge how to lead a team. Chaotic trainings, process gaps, lies in emails, throwing people under the bus publicly and favoritism.

Most of your DPS experience is determined by the culture and values of your school, so if you have a strong principal and colleagues you're great! DPS has a diverse set of students and the teacher's union has been successful at negotiating some compensation increases.

Cons

Ineffective school board and superintendent; declining student performance; too many admins without clearly defined roles and responsibilities; culture of mediocrity.
