Pros

Dexis is an organization made up of dedicated, energetic, optimistic, capable, welcoming, and intelligent people. It's a breath of fresh air working for an organization that is transparent with its employees and committed to ensuring their professional development and happiness. Benefits have continued to improve over the years: professional development funds, gym reimbursement, 401K match. There's also a yearly performance bonus and a systematic review system. They've also recently instituted a salary banding system attached to levels, performance, and years experience, which makes things more transparent and provides a clear growth path - work was done to make sure all employees are at least at the min of their level. As a growing organization, there are -as you can imagine - growing pains, but the organization has made a conscious effort from the beginning of growth to keep the small business culture, give back to its employees, and deal with space and long-hour issues. There are many spaces to engage with other peers - wine downs and bagels on Fridays, random acts of coffee pairings, kickball, happy hours, summer and holiday parties, and Top Chef competitions. I continue to recommend Dexis to anyone who would be a good cultural and professional fit for the organization. It's certainly not a place where you can just show up to, put your head down, and hope to "fly under the radar". I appreciate being a part of the growth of an organization that I'm proud to work for.

Cons

Most of the cons have to do with the rapid growth and continue to improve: office space - noise levels and being spread among four different offices; long hours and blurred lines in day-night; parking/transit not being partially covered - though it is pre-tax deductible; 401K match, but no profit sharing; health insurance is solid, but dental doesn't cover any orthodontics; salary is now competitive, but with the banding newly in place, you can see when you fall right at the minimum of the level you are in (which can be less than the max of the level below!) although you are in the mid of years experience and "high" in performance reviews, and it can be frustrating given the long hours and blood, sweat, tears given in the growth. All in all though, it's a great start and I'd rather have the system in place than the opaque compensation process at other organizations.

Transparency is the cornerstone of Dexis, and it is heartening to see it is recognized and valued. We will strive to continue to be transparent as possible as we grow. Part of this transparency is to regularly review our compensation structure and benefits package and make adjustments whenever possible while keeping staff involved and informed. While our goal is growth, our heart is truly in maintaining the culture that separates Dexis from the competition.

Pros

The people at Dexis are great. Folks are incredibly committed to what they do. And given the breadth and depth of our projects, are a really interesting group of people who have been all over the world doing amazing things. Performance is rewarded, professional development is supported, and mixing work and fun is encouraged. Hard work is the status quo.

Cons

Dexis is a growing, entrepreneurial company. Its culture doesn't always align with that of our government clients. Navigating the differences can be frustrating for project staff, since the company’s ideals don’t match their day-to-day reality. Expectations about the pace and unglamorous nature of our work have not always been clearly communicated to new hires.

Dexis prides itself on its entrepreneurial spirit and fostering an environment of ingenuity. And yes, part of the work is downright unglamorous. Communicating these expectations are something we can be sure to better incorporate into our interviewing process. We want to make sure all potential staff understand our core values of Ingenuity, Integrity, and Investment in People. Thank you for the positive feedback about our ability to adapt to the growth trajectory. It's the amazing and talented staff that is making it all possible.

Pros

I worked at Dexis as part of a large contract they have with USAID. I was so excited to work for them as they have many government contracts and are a large company. My perceptions of them were much more positive than my actual experience. My experience with them helped to explain why so many of the contractors and staff under them were brand new. Essentially they prioritized the client (USAID) even when I presented proof to verify that I had done specific tasks that USAID claimed I had not, I was still penalized as though I had done something wrong. Their only concern was the bottom line, they did not treat me like a human being because they knew there were 50+ people waiting to take my position if I left it. My program manager was also inept, misled me with her statements, and always sided with the client despite evidence to the contrary. During my exit interview, I questioned the HR staff who conducted the interview whether any of the info received during exit interviews had actually led to any change and in not so many words she said no.

Cons

everything - low pay, inhumane treatment, treated differently that Dexis institutional staff, awful benefits, not promotion opportunities
