Pros

Business team is easy to work with, knowledgeable in the space. Made it very easy to understand the functional goals.

Cons

Computer hardware is terrible for engineering. Constantly overheats and slow to use. Computers distributed are actually 3 years past the warrantee period from the manufacturer with known battery heat issues. Engineering management is tough, not open to listening and spends more time telling you that you're wrong than hearing out ideas. If Zilong Tang does not agree with your decision it will be blasted throughout very heavily. Constantly puts down the ideas of his staff if they aren't his own or aligned to his "best practices."

Thank you for your time with DrFirst and the time to share your feedback. It is good to hear you felt our business teams are good to work with and helped you to reach your goals. It sounds like we missed the mark with the equipment. This is not something we strive for nor the experience we want our team members to have. We are constantly working to be better today than yesterday and continued feedback through our open door policies, engagement surveys, and overall feedback helps us to achieve this. If you have additional details you would like to share, please feel free to email us at feedback@drfirst.com

Pros

Individual products within DrFirst are run like independent businesses. This gives those products a great deal of freedom to find processes and approaches that work for them. I have mostly been involved with the Backline product which is a great product and has a great team of people who are great in their roles. Work life balance is great and respected generally. The benefits and salary are above other places. Some of the people are really fun to work with. They give out more swag than any other company I've work for and have frequent celebrations to reward good work.

Cons

Because each product is run independently, there is alot of silo'ing in the company, because the products don't share best practices with each other and take pride in doing things THEY'RE OWN WAY even when their own way is backwards. This results in some products being really awful places to work. While I enjoyed my time working on Backline, when I would work with the other products it was not a good experience and usually a very bad experience professionally. It amazing how one company can have such a range within it--- from great to absolutely terrible. Where I worked was good and I am happy I had that chance, but I would never work for the other products and wouldn't recommend them.

Thank you for your time with the company and with our secure messaging product, Backline. We are proud of the difference our products make in healthcare and Backline would not be as successful without dedicated members of the team. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and review. If you have any additional details you would like to share, please email us at feedback@drfirst.com .

Pros

This is a place where one can literally carve out their own career path if they have the maturity and motivation to pursue it. The company is growing and there are lots of opportunities to make a difference if one looks at it that way. If you have ever worked at a bigger organization you would understand how decision making can be cumbersome and long there. Here things can move quickly if you have built relationships and communicated the problems as well as their solutions to the right audiences. You have to get out of your comfort zone and speak up. The company is making significant efforts to improve employee benefits and managerial capabilities, some departments are in better shape than the others.

Cons

There are challenges with certain teams and how decisions are made. One also has to think about people who are making decisions, how much information they have and what their priorities are. It is easy to become frustrated with the lack of processes and infrastructure at times, however, this is a great opportunity, if you want to get experience in scaling systems and solving problems.
