Pros

You will have a job which is better than not having a job

Cons

- Mostly archaic technologies and processes that have no business of being used at this point. - Terrible work environment (open and loud spaces) which doesn't bode well for developers - Long working hours (sometimes worked on weekends as well) - Start very low with initial salaries (much lower than the industry) - No documented or practiced employee performance plan. Rare meetings with your supervisors. - Not enough good developers. The company hires mostly cheap developers and not quality developers which usually demand and expect bigger salaries. - Very top management heavy where management talks about across the board sweeping changes and expects people to implement them but doesn't provide an environment to do so. For example, a regular complaint was that developers were not innovate enough and were not spending time to learn new things. Well sure they weren't doing that because they were already working like 60 hrs a week. You can't expect them to contribute more unless you are clueless of the pains of the team.

No company is perfect, however, we actively strive to be the best company we can be for our customers, partners, and our staff. The changes that come from seeking growth and opportunity can sometimes introduce some stress and uncertainty for team members. Most of our employees thrive on our entrepreneurial spirit, enjoy challenging the status quo, and are excited and motivated by the opportunities ahead of them and our rate of growth. For some others, it can be an uncomfortable experience. We acknowledge that our company may not be the right fit for those who prefer a slower pace, or highly regimented and structured settings. We are driven, have high expectations for our company, for our teams, and for our individual employees; and we believe that this is a significant part of what makes us successful. Over the last six months, DrFirst has been focused on transformative cultural and organizational changes, and this process has involved collaboration with our leadership, consultants, and HR. We also have an open door policy and take legitimate feedback from our valued employees seriously. We have already begun implementing many of our plans to improve many aspects of the company. Our credo is to always do better today than yesterday. Our unprecedented growth (despite an economic recession) has come with some expected transitional periods while we adjust our strategies to position ourselves for the greatest success. Employees who are the right fit understand and embrace change, remain flexible, believe in our vision/mission and buy into our culture and credo. We are encouraged by recent employee feedback based on the initiatives we’re implementing, and we continue to explore ways to make DrFirst a great place to work. Prospective applicant are welcomed to ask us about the specific programs and changes we have put in place during their interview.

Pros

I expect the company will be bought out and gutted by Goldman Sachs in a year or two They give out T-Shirts every quarter that you can re purpose for washing your car

Cons

This company is a textbook example of failed leadership and management strategies. The entire company is run like an oppressive dictatorship based on fear. As with all dictatorships the issues start at the top. But they don’t end there. The Co-Founders of the company and relatives of the Senior Management are all involved in the day to day operations. Nothing at this company is done in the traditional way businesses operate, which is why the company is burning through cash and falling apart. Other Cons: - Nepotism is rampant so expect to be working side by side with a child, cousin, niece of Senior Executives. As in most nepotism cases these people are not expected to produce any work but will be apart of your team none the less. - Long time employees are suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. - Employees that interact with executives are often berated and shouted at during meetings. - Everyone you befriend will quit or be fired within a year. So, don’t get attached. - The company has a team dedicated to fighting bad press on GlassDoor. Mentally adjust the rating accordingly. - The building this company operates out of is a depressing and not maintained. - The Senior Management does not believe in retirement. If you take this job you are on your own for retirement savings. Yes they match, but only a very small amount and the vesting period is long. - The IT infrastructure supporting the products is falling apart. This results in a lot of hidden downtime. - The company can’t retain good developers so most of the team is learning to code on the job. - There is tremendous pressure to sell products like Backline which is the Senior Managements pet project. No one wants it, not even for free. Many people have been fired over not being able to sell this product.

Pros

If you're ready to work for 55 to 60 hrs a week. You have a great career in this company

Cons

I worked in this company as a software engineer horrible place to work. Every old timer in this company thinks that they are great technology people. They talk about cutting edge technology, and all nice jargons related to technology which is all fabricated by the HR. The technology which they work is nothing extraordinary or cutting edge, It is very basic, which they call as world class If you come at 9.00 AM and leave at 6.00PM then you will be frowned upon. They won't listen to any of your advice. Be ready to work from 9.00AM till 7.30PM and on the weekend.
