RUN do not walk way from this toxic company

Pros

* With a 50%+ turn over rate you always get to meet new people! * You will NEVER forget who the CEO is, because he talks about his title at every single meeting at least like 100 times * You will never develop a big ego, because you will always be told how bad you are at your job and the many, many ways you could improve * With years and years of bad reviews all saying the same thing you know that this company is dedicated to being consistent! * You will save a ton of money on vacations, because getting one approved takes an act of Congress at this company

Cons

* Insane turnover rate.. Over half the exec staff has quit in the past six months, and they fired or drove out EVERY single person on the marketing team late last year. The department literally had to be built again from scratch. * Micromanagement to the Nth degree: The owner feels he knows how to do everyone's job much, much better than they could. He is happy on a moment's notice to issue heavy handed directives on how things should be done, and he isn't afraid to let you and everyone else know how superior he is. * The Gallup poll scores are horrible, and management blames the employees for it instead of doing anything to address the toxic environment that has destroyed morale * Fake reviews on Glassdoor to bump up their scores * While the owner is taking draws and sucking money out of the company he quibbles over even the most minor expenses to help people do their jobs * Salaries across the board are lower than industry norms * You better love wearing lots of different hats, because you will be loaded up to the breaking point with work * Overall just a horrible, negative, and toxic place to work. Everyone I know there is looking for a new job.

Thank you for your honest feedback. I sincerely apologize that you did not have a positive experience with us at Email on Acid. That is certainly not the outcome that any of us want to hear from former colleagues. You are correct in that we are experiencing a temporary employee retention issue. Our employee turnover is due to both voluntary and involuntary departures. We have made some significant changes in our culture over the past couple years and that can sometimes be disruptive. Not everyone is going to like or agree to the changes that are being made which is perfectly understandable. I certainly don't want, or expect, anyone to work at an organization in which they are not happy or don't feel successful. We are certainly not a perfect organization nor am I a perfect CEO. I will make mistakes. My promise and commitment to my teammates is that I will always be accountable for them, own them, and put 110% into learning and growing from those mistakes. Thanks again for your comments and feedback.

Yes, it’s as bad as everyone says.

Pros

My teammates were great, they’re the only reason I lasted as long as I did WFH friendly, even before Covid (for some teams at least) I learned the valuable lesson to not to stick it out at a job that makes you miserable

Cons

Where to begin. Most of what I want to talk about has already been covered, but I’ll mention it all again because it’s true and should be addressed until it’s fixed. Micromanagement for sure. The CEO is a stereotypical power-hungry narcissist, who doesn’t trust anyone to do their jobs. If you’re sheltered by enough layers of management from him, it’s fine for a while, but eventually his toxicity trickles down to every part of the company. Instead of actually leading the company, he’s so entwined in every detail that he was literally writing copy at one point. He doesn’t trust anyone to do their jobs, so it’s really hard to grow in your role, or to actually get things done since he’s constantly a blocker. Culture (cue eyeroll). While the individual contributors I worked with were incredible, the only people who really last in management are those who are unwilling to call the CEO on his bs, who witness his constant bullying and continue to cheer on the tiny wins while ignoring the larger issues at hand. There has been a lot of talk of improving the culture, but all this has lead to is surface level cheerleading with underlying paranoia and distrust, that encourages yes-men and discourages meaningful, honest feedback. I’m not writing this to be spiteful, I just want to give honest feedback (which I also did while working there - it was listened to and ignored), and let people know what to expect if they’re considering working there. The rah-rah yay EoA facade can pull you in at first, but the lack of autonomy, trust, and respect is unacceptable for a modern workplace. I can honestly say I’m 10x happier since moving on to somewhere that values me, trusts me to do my work, and is willing to invest in me as an employee with valid experience and ideas. I think everyone deserves that type of work environment, and I don’t think you will find it at EoA.

Thank you very much for your candid feedback and I appreciate you taking the time to write a review regarding your experience at Email on Acid. I completely agree that we have amazing colleagues here at EOA. I apologize that you did not have a positive experience with us and I take full responsibility. Your feedback regarding our culture has been heard. I will certainly reflect on your feedback to see how I can provide a better experience for our current and future teammates. There are always opportunities to improve how we work together, function as an organization and provide an amazing experience for our teammates and customers. That is something I think about every day and developing a great culture is a journey and not a destination. A lot has changed at Email on Acid over the past couple of years and change is not always easy. We've implemented more accountability and transparency within the organization while defining specific benchmarks and outcomes that we want to achieve. Based on your comments, I can certainly do a better job in communicating and facilitating these changes to ensure feedback and concerns are heard so that it's a collaborative effort versus a top-down directive. I am very happy to hear you found an organization with a culture that is a perfect fit for you. I certainly wish you nothing but the best. Thanks again for your comments and feedback.

Don't listen to the negatives

Pros

As I read the reviews on this site, I'm noticing that everyone's experience isn't the same. I've worked at EOA for over a year and have had no issues. I do my job as I'm supposed to and treat people as I want to be treated. The management team at EOA does expect great work to be done, and I believe that any business should follow that. EOA has been great to develop my career, and I would say not to be deterred by the negative reviews. EOA does focus a lot on culture. When you work with people eight hours a day, it is important that people are sharing the same mindset about being positive and having fun while working. PROS: Remote Culture EOA Has a culture and value system they want to stand by Managers that genuinely care for their employees.

Cons

Adjusting the entire company to being remote has been a work in progress, since some people have never worked fully remote. A lot of meetings.
