Pros

Summer hours make work/life balance a lot better. This company uses very modern technology in its academic and administrative tasks which makes life easier for staff. They're GI bill approved, so there's not really a shortage of students (job security) unless of course the government shuts down!

Cons

Do not expect to be single and living without roommates on ERAU's salary. Also, if you are married, you're likely to have better insurance premiums and coverage from your spouse's employer. Their hiring practices favor friends over qualified applicants, which is a shame. They also have a policy that if you and your spouse work for the company, you can only use a combined 12 weeks for your FMLA "maternity/paternity leave". So, if you're looking to start a family and both of you are working for the company, you will not be allowed to use your Federally mandated benefit of 12 weeks per person.

Pros

As a flight instructor at Embry-Riddle there was never a lack of students or work. There was also many attractive benefits like free school as a full time flight instructor.

Cons

Some cons were long days at little pay, but the flight time was worth it for building hours to move on to another job or move up in management.

Pros

pay is nice, they never seem to fire people, easy to get tenure compared to other universities, students are very active in out-of-class activities and clubs

Cons

They never seem to fire people, meaning incompetent people fill many positions (the Peter Principle) - people who would never get hired to a comparable position at another university. People are overseeing services when they have no business or qualifications for doing so. They seem to always look inward, never outward or at competing institions, meaning they are still doing things the way other universities were doing them 10-20 years ago. Services are woefully inadequate and out-dated and inefficient compared to other universities. This also ends up bloating administration and tuition - they lead the nation in student debt. The relationship between the Daytona Beach, Prescott, and Worldwide campuses is dysfunctional and strained.
