Pros

The tax pros and office manager are wonderful to work with. All are very knowledgeable and interesting people. Everyone in my office is always ready to discuss what will help the client get the best refund possible. Clients don't realize the years of experience that combined give them better, legal , returns .... since ALL we do is tax sometimes we fix CPA errors.,

Cons

The pay is at minimum wage. In my office nights are slow and therefore a client base cannot be established to give you a decent salary. Marketing has been over the top and for the hours (40 or more) the return on clients is almost non existent (6 total not even necessarily for the office you represent). Upper management is clueless. Even if the Upper take the "basic class" it is still not working in a retail office.Class is just potential employees learning.

Pros

H&R Block provides thorough training, and employees should expect to study continuously throughout the season. The training is valuable and helps build a strong understanding of tax preparation. There are opportunities to "level up," and advancing through the certification levels can lead to higher pay over time. Management is approachable and readily available when assistance is needed.

Cons

The position is seasonal, and the starting pay is $12 per hour. During peak tax season, employees may work very long hours—sometimes up to 10 hours a day, 6 to 7 days a week—which can be physically and mentally exhausting. In my first month, I also found that some of the staff were not especially welcoming, which made the initial adjustment more challenging.
