Her direct reporting team always seemed happy (albeit all of them were white females). The current CEO is another story altogether. I find him to be very shady and has a historically questionable reputation industry-wide. I am baffled why he’s still in that position (and how he even secured it given his reputation). His original intent was to ignore Moda's operational issues (payment processing and supply chain defects) and bring the company public. That reinforces his questionable character as future shareholders would have suffered terrible losses if his strategy succeeded. That misguided moral compass is consistent with his character. The terrible working conditions (flies, roaches) were spot-on. The only exception was the offices of the founder and C-suite (which were very well-kempt and beautifully decorated). That dichotomy reinforced the haves-vs-have nots ethos pervasive in the organization. The other thing the article missed was that senior level positions were largely held by Indians (and is not the all-white company the article implies). I have no problem with Indians holding top positions but it does create issues with diversity if the vast majority of individuals at the decision making level are all Indian. The organization has a chasm of either hiring Asians for technical roles, white people (in middle management roles) or Indians (in senior management roles). Unfortunately, senior management ignored the numerous studies have demonstrate that diverse cultures are more successful. .
