Pros

Moda Operandi is a fashion discovery platform that gives consumers access to shop directly from designers’ complete runway collections. The concept gives "women the power to choose from the full collection and shop in a modernly sustainable dimension.

Cons

A strong schooling of self discipline and availability amongst flexible work hours. "See the position as your own business" - there are no cons.

Beware the BS

Pros

Deep insight into the fashion industry (however you will probably lose your passion for it in this environment) Some incredible people (very very few though, most all have already or will be let go)

Cons

Low pay, no raises, no bonuses, lying and passive aggressive lack of communication at every level. The majority of the people working there are white, privileged, independently wealthy, (so there’s no pressure for fair wages) power hungry, and set in their own ways of one note ideas that reflect their own lives. There is no room for out of the box thinking, personal or company growth, real solutions to problems, or even the time of day from most leadership. This company was created by privilege, for privilege, and has wrecked havoc on any sense of change, creativity, innovation or collaboration. They have no respect for their employees or their business partners. Working here made me question my own morals, stripped me of a personal life and sense of self, and took the joy out of working in fashion. I have learned an incredible amount about myself through working at moda, mostly all the ways that I was too blindly dedicated and worked too hard for nothing, because things never get fixed there. The long hours, late nights, early mornings, sacrificing your own life are never enough, the work never ends and you’re pushed to go harder and do more endlessly, with no additional compensation, title change or even respect. They are committed to maintaining the status quo or reaching for greatness beyond their means and their employees are the ones who face the repercussions of their bad judgment and poor decision making. Working here and then ultimately leaving moda will make you make a personal vow to yourself to never let a company suck the soul and life out of you ever again in the future. I don’t regret my time spent there because I have grown immensely through those hardships, but I do not wish that fate on anyone else.

Pros

struggling to think of any

Cons

Strong social hierarchy and the behavior that surrounds that. A business plan set up to fail making for an environment of scrambling and personal sacrifice to "save the day". Long hours, insufficient infrastructure. Idiotic money wasting. Example : lease of a "photography studio space" and then built out and designed. It does not resemble a photography studio with massive deficiencies, does not function as a photography studio. The designers hired to perform this expensive build had never designed a photo studio and seems never seen one. And whoever hired them was apparently not in the photography department and is typical of the complete moronic lack of knowledge in what they are engaged in. 50 percent of the space is empty with offices. Apparently the team of professional photographers had no part in any of the key decisions as they are not on the radar. We had a party there and the people that worked there were all just gutted and embarrassed. Example: hiring stylists and photographers for huge amounts of money when they employ photographers and stylists. Huge questionable merchandise buys based on political/social affiliations. Low low sales. The promise of data mining to create success is a golden goose as the production of this enterprise is as flawed as it's promise. But if the business was judged on gaining other peoples investment money then it is a huge success.

Looking back

Pros

•Overall, I was able to thrive in my role here. Completing daily quota multiple times over and worked with brands I personally enjoy. I was able to master my craft. The knowledge I brought to my team proved critical to improving the business overall and I’m thankful I was able to contribute that to my team. I will forever be grateful for my coworkers and the blood, sweat, and tears we all put in to make this business succeed over the years. We did that. •Employee discount, though it should be known that there are plenty of caveats. For example, employees are subject to receiving damaged product (“less than perfect”) with no notice. I made a purchase from the employee sale that completely fell apart at the seams in less than a week. Hoping to keep it, I asked for a repair or replacement. I was told that employees are not entitled to repairs or return options the same way that customers may be and promptly reminded it was non refundable. After Moda did nothing, I reached out to the brand independently, who was happy to assist me in this process. I was eventually sent an email by HR condemning my action to seek a repair for a $1,200 designer product from the brand directly, even though they were happy to do so when Moda was not. •”Unlimited” PTO; also has caveats, not truly unlimited. You need approval for requests over 7 days, and will be criticized for how and when you use it in a transactional manner compared back to your coworkers. Even if it is a slow month for the business, you will likely be asked to explain. This also eliminates the standard of having to “use it or lose it”. Some people end up taking very little pto while others abuse it with no reminder to take your vacation.

Cons

•Senior leadership out of touch with the industry; as they come from other Fortune 500 companies that have nothing to do with fashion but rather merely “successful businesses”. •Lauren Santo Domingo is nothing but a face of the company. Worked here for years and heard her speak maybe a handful of times. Completely unengaged with the hundreds of people working to make her business successful. I remember taking an elevator with her once. She stared at her phone and avoided her employees the whole time; fairly elitist with no regard for her employees. •Rampant nepotism. Love it or leave it. •Worried about profitability but fails to even address (let alone acknowledge) employee criticisms in regards to workflows or ideas that would lead to more a more profitable company. •New ceo every 6 months to a year; this means your job is always on the chopping block and subject to whatever frail attempt at cost savings the ceo of the time desires. Most changes implemented have negative impact, or plagued with micro tasks that only make the company less profitable in the end. •40 hours is a minimum expectation; dare to leave on time and you may just get a “touch base” for not being a team player- despite what you may have been able to accomplish during business hours. You will be required to stay late more often than not; and without any notice or recognition for your effort. It’s expected. •Deadlines more important than doing the right thing. Quality comes second when everything is a rush job. •Masquerades as tech company while failing to actually innovate. Workflow stuck in status quo, everything produced in a very structured way that leaves no room for creativity or new ideas. •Call outs tend to be received as personal attacks rather than genuine attempts at progression or innovation. •No opportunity to move between departments. Attempts to do so are often discouraged or not even considered by corporate. •I mention blood, sweat, and tears above. This mostly refers to the psychological and physical gaslighting you can expect as an employee.

Pros

mostly great people to work with and "flexible" hours

Cons

Too many to list.. -> Incompetent Executives who have ZERO idea what they are doing, literally burning millions of dollars... only reason company is still around is the founder is a billionaire -> So much politics AND turnover at the top that there's a new "head of" for each department every 3-6 months and if you've been there longer than 2 years and are buddy buddy with the founder then you're safe but otherwise don't count on staying longer than 3-6 months -> lies, lies, lies and more lies to the media about innovation of technology and data stuff the company is at the "forefront" of when pretty sure the data tech teams were hired like 6 months ago and most seem to have left / on their way out already
