Pros

Deep insight into the fashion industry (however you will probably lose your passion for it in this environment) Some incredible people (very very few though, most all have already or will be let go)

Cons

Low pay, no raises, no bonuses, lying and passive aggressive lack of communication at every level. The majority of the people working there are white, privileged, independently wealthy, (so there’s no pressure for fair wages) power hungry, and set in their own ways of one note ideas that reflect their own lives. There is no room for out of the box thinking, personal or company growth, real solutions to problems, or even the time of day from most leadership. This company was created by privilege, for privilege, and has wrecked havoc on any sense of change, creativity, innovation or collaboration. They have no respect for their employees or their business partners. Working here made me question my own morals, stripped me of a personal life and sense of self, and took the joy out of working in fashion. I have learned an incredible amount about myself through working at moda, mostly all the ways that I was too blindly dedicated and worked too hard for nothing, because things never get fixed there. The long hours, late nights, early mornings, sacrificing your own life are never enough, the work never ends and you’re pushed to go harder and do more endlessly, with no additional compensation, title change or even respect. They are committed to maintaining the status quo or reaching for greatness beyond their means and their employees are the ones who face the repercussions of their bad judgment and poor decision making. Working here and then ultimately leaving moda will make you make a personal vow to yourself to never let a company suck the soul and life out of you ever again in the future. I don’t regret my time spent there because I have grown immensely through those hardships, but I do not wish that fate on anyone else.
