Pros

There are not many pros

Cons

The Leadership and Executive Team are an absolute mess. The CEO and COO are completely out of touch of with people practices that actually help with retention (such as actually giving people time off and paying people for parental leave)

We appreciate your candor. We have a ‘New Parent’ leave benefit that is offered to staff based on their tenure with Energy Solutions. We strongly encourage staff to speak with their supervisor and the People and Culture benefits team if there are questions about leave and time off options.

Pros

Excellent health insurance for non-CA folks

Cons

Punitive policies are on the rise and it's negatively impacting culture. Forgot to submit your timesheet a few times? You'll lose your bonus. (Even if you're exempt and shouldn't even need to have a timesheet.) Didn't get that full 2040 hours in? You'll lose part of your bonus AND be un-promotable. We only get 5 sick days - when the industry standard is 7-10. Hope you don't get sick more than once. The PTO policy says you can take 4 weeks of PTO ... but you have to work 8.5 hours a day to make that work with the 2040 hours policy (you have to work 2040 hours in a year - which is only 1 week of PTO if you work a standard 8 hour day, hence the 8.5 hour days). Oh, and they don't recognize federal holidays - so if Bob Cratchit wants to spend Christmas with his family, he'll need to use PTO for that. You'll see a lot of comments about how smart everyone is who works at ES, and that's true. They're dedicated to the mission and are working straight from their hearts. So punitive policies don't make much sense here - and I'm not sure who's idea these things are.

Pros

Work from home, flexibility, very nice colleagues, great mission, meaningful work, lots of growth opportunities

Cons

Long hours, new policies seem to get flopped out without discussing with the people they affect, very low PTO, bad eggs hang around and infect good teams. Many of the recent management hires are out of touch and driven by ego.

We appreciate your candor. The Hours/Paid Time Off policies have been at Energy Solutions for many years and we understand that we will be addressing concerns some staff brought to our attention in the near future. We will continue to work with our Employee Engagement Discussion Group and encourage staff to bring concerns and questions to their supervisors, Directors and the People and Culture Department.
