Pros

You're given a lot of responsibility right out of college. The company compensates you well for a first job with little or no experience in healthcare.

Cons

Epic is one of the only large companies in Madison. If you don't like your job and want to stay in tech, you're going to need to move to another city. Relocation isn't fully paid back until you finish two years at the company. The perks of working at the company aren't that great when compared to other tech companies (any company in Silicon Valley). You get free juice and popcorn. The lunch is good (not free), but if you work in a building far from the cafeteria taking time to eat there really isn't an option. The developers at the company aren't great. The company programs in MUMPS and a large portion of the developers come from mediocre schools or are brought in from abroad.

Great experience in consulting, healthcare IT, and Project Management. Great pay, great benefits, and great opportunities within healthcare after experience at Epic.

Cons

There is a lack of work-life balance

Pros

Gain fantastic experience for an entry level position and quickly gain responsibility.

Cons

I voluntarily left after two years, but after year 4-5, there aren't a lot of ways to advance much further. Very long hours. Experiences can be great or terrible depending on what customer you assigned, something you have little control over.
