It's tough

Pros

I don't really have pros that are standout. Just some advice. This is not a place where you can slack off so that you will receive less work. Prepare yourself to put in full effort. The expectations will get higher every quarterly, so don't think that maintaining the same level of work/performance will cut it...that sort of level will last less than a year. I'd like to strongly emphasize that there is a tough learning curve, and I really think you need to spend time outside of work to reflect on it and see what you can do to make things better.

Cons

You will have to work a lot. (45 - 50 hours average) Your work life will be heavily dependent on your boss. Frankly, the people that get to cut off work at 40 hours is mainly attributed to their boss from my experience. If you have a poor boss/team, you will not have an option to move to a different team...it's just unlucky.

Pros

- Will hire graduates with liberal arts degrees - Will give those graduates immense responsibility early on with opportunity to earn trust and work more independently - Excellent job security if you can consistently meet and/or exceed expectations - Great raise and bonuses if you can consistently exceed expectations

Cons

- Unrealistically high expectations for new hires translates into high pressure and long working hours if you are not comfortable saying 'no' - Extremely process heavily, with little flexibility/agility in project work - Underwhelming benefits, especially compared to industry standards: 10 days PTO, 6.5 Holidays, 6 sick days, and 6 WFH days per year. No extreme weather WFH, no COVID/Flu WFH. - Out of touch upper management has trust issues with the rest of the company which leads to: - High turnover. Epic has trouble retaining talent because of their focus on WFW, lack of flexibility. - Expectations are clear and standardized across roles and there is not much room for you to step into areas of strength/interests.

Management doesn't trust employees

Pros

Good pay and good food

Cons

Bad work life balance. We get 5 "generous" remote work days per year, despite most meetings being virtual. Management has recently decided that every employee is required to be on the office between 9 and 5, removing their flexible working hours. The company is going downhill, don't apply.
