Pros

- Pay is good, especially after 3 years - Surrounded by smart peers

Cons

- 80% of my peers are interviewing at other companies - Management will directly tell you not to discuss pay with your peers - Project Managers (IS) on most teams are expected to work 50 hrs minimum a week - even without travel (which is essentially non existent now). Dev/TS/QM do not have these expectations. - Executive leadership has said diversity/inclusion efforts have no place at Epic since it’s not a part of the mission (can find recording on r/epicsystems) - Being in IS after 3 years is seen as very tenured (people usually burn out around 1-2 years) - Very limited ability to switch teams or divisions

Pros

• Great entry level salary • Best Campus food ever • Cool campus to visit • Good company mission • Plenty of smart and helpful coworkers • Possibly diverse set of work thrown at you

Cons

• Terrible work/life balance (had a couple 70+ hour work weeks) • Job that can easily be remote is forcing employees back into office • Screwed if leaving the company, especially trying to remain working in healthcare industry • Bad COVID response with toxic culture • May be thrown into tough customer, training, and/or supervisor situation that might set you up to fail • Not much growth salary or position-wise once started

Pros

campus is easy on the eyes good system that medical systems benefit from

Cons

Management- Epic uses a system of "TL- Team Lead" and "AM-AC" or Application Manager and Application Coordinator. You'll be hard pressed to find a nice AM. I personally had a mean AM who put on a different face with others and have heard stories from others with similar cold experiences with AMs. Additionally, your TL will truly make or break your experience. My assigned TL was a total kool-aid juice drinker, super strict with company policies and kept pointing out mistakes. They will do anything to push you out if you're not a "fit". Bad experience, really hope Epic's company structure collapses on them one day. No overtime pay- and by god will you be doing overtime. This company abuses the concept of "fresh meat" out of college. There is very low diversity, especially in the PM role- it will be a sea of white people wherever you look.
